Steelers v. Raiders Game Thread

Well, I don't feel quite so bad about losing to the Falcons after their D did a good job of shutting down the Bengals and Michael Vick looked ridiculously good again. We've had a very tough schedule so far, and this is our first game against a weak opponent.  These are the games that championship caliber teams jump out to a big lead and put it away early. Don't let these guys hang around.

Toss all your game comments in here. Let's go Steelers!

argh
first of all why does cbs pay so much money to broadcast these games and then give us a horribly crappy looking non-HD broadcast? If you're gonna pay for the games buck up and buy a couple high def cameras....

And I'm rethinking if Ben should be in there.  If you aren't gonna let him run the offense and you're gonna max protect every time he drops back then let Batch play with the full offense. If you're that worried about him getting hit then he shouldn't be in there. I realize it was only 3 plays but it looked like they were really trying to overprotect him (and the Raiders were really trying to get after him).

I
usually don't call for pulling a qb, but I wouldn't mind seeing Batch in there.  I'll live if we don't, but if we lose this it is very close to OVER.

Well
I thought about it and I don't think we should have pulled him.  Maybe not started him, but Ben is our future and I think it would have sent a bad sign to pull him.  Doesn't really matter now.  We lost and to a bad team.

wow
you know, when the game was still a one TD contest, why didn't we stick with the run?  We're trying to make Ben freaking Kurt Warner from '98.  and that pass to santonio in the endzone was pass interference

Should have played Batch
As I commented in one of the diaries, there was no reason for Roethlisberger to play. And after his performance, it would be hard to argue that he should have. He clearly wasn't ready, and who knows if he's really thinking clearly and making, well, "good" decisions.

It's too bad his and Cowher's egos came before what's best for the team.

the worst thing
I've seen in a while.  Less than 100 total yards by an offense that is truly terrible, and we still lose.  This loss is thoroughly demoralizing.

Painful
Four interceptions?  Two directly returned for touchdowns??  Take away those two INTs and the Steelers win the game.  It's incredible how much rides on Ben's performance.  I agree that he should NOT have started today.

The turnovers are killing this team.
