Truly sad
My prayers go out to his family, friends and his team. From everything I heard yesterday from his teammates, he turned his life around since having a kid.

Horrible tragedy
I'm also praying for his loved ones.  The news last night was showing some promise, too.

Something still seems 'fishy' about this story
After reading this article from NFL.com, this is starting to sound more like a deliberate murder instead of a botched break in.

This is from Taylor's former lawyer:

Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor's 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in the house, but neither she nor Taylor's girlfriend was injured.

And according to police the first break in, eight day earlier sounded more like a threat than anything else.

In last week's break-in, police said someone pried open a front window, rifled through drawers and left a kitchen knife on a bed.

Sounds deliberate
Yeah, they were saying that the team statement said it was a deliberate attack on Taylor.  And, the fact that his house had been broken into so recently makes it more suspicious.
