Najeh Davenport

In regards to the poll,

I'm pretty sure I would vote for Najeh Davenport if he had more chances to show himself, but the fact is he hasn't been able to.

Between Parker and Najeh I think we have a great one two punch, but we keep giving them the one and not the two. This is getting predictable for opposing defenses and has shut down some of Parker's effectiveness.

fair enough
Davenport's 2007 salary is a reasonably cheap $595,000 and his total cap allocation is $797,500. Certainly not exorbitantly expensive for a player with as much experience as him.

And I agree our usage of the two is a bit predictable.

dookie's been ok
but how can you not go with James Harrison? The guy has been an absolute beast.  Is there any doubt he's our defensive MVP and playing at a pro bowl caliber level?

I had to go with Holmes
He's the leading reciever and where would this offense be if Ced or Nate was the starter opposite of Ward.

Can't argue with Holmes
I considered choosing him before I voted Harrison.

Harrison
Should get for his play in the Ravens game alone, but he's been great all year.

I voted for A. Smith
I think Harrison is probably the best value in the league at LB for what he's paid. And it's only going to get better- I think he's on the books for less than $1.5 mil for the next two or three years.

I chose Smith though because he's been so, so valuable for us due to injuries. He's really been the only constant we've had at safety, with Troy and Clark both missing time.

I'm in the middle of a long post about these guys.

no doubt about Holmes and Smith
but they are both high draft picks, they make alot more than what their salary shows because they're still getting part of their signing bonus and i'm sure they have alot more incentives.  Also as far as value goes, they are producing like what you would excpect out of a high round pick.

I'm not knocking 'em, I really like both of those guys, but from a value perspective I think you have to take Harrison.

very true
I voted for Harrison but I didn't even think about Holmes being a first round pick versus Harrison's undrafted status. They are basically in their first season as starters.
