Can You Feel The Hype?! NFL Draft Open Thread

This will be our open thread for the first day of the NFL Draft. After Pittsburgh makes its first selection, we'll have instant reaction up on the site, but are most interested in hearing what others have to say.

This is your thread for that.

By the way, I had a dream last night that we drafted Joe Staley.

I'm just sayin'...

Update [2007-4-28 15:3:8 by SteelerFan]: The Steelers selected linebacker Lawrence Timmons from Florida State. Excellent choice who fills a need and is well-regarded by all the scouts. Welcome to Pittsburgh, Lawrence!

Those New York fans
will boo anybody.  They're jeering former Hokies.

Awful
Probably been drinking since 6 a.m.

They showed a lot of respect for the coach
though. Guess it's just animosity towards the NFL players.

So, do the Raiders trade down? I'd try - I can think of four or five teams that'd kill for Calvin Johnson.

Interesting scenario
Hard to figure what they'll do.

First year in a while we haven't known the first pick heading into the draft.

On the one hand, they could use multiple picks; on the other hand, they -have- to find a quarterback. Tough decision. Guess they'll wait to see if they get an offer they can't refuse.

It's Russell
Russell goes #1; Lions on the clock.

Lions take Calvin Johnson? Gonna be hard for them to pass up on him. Can you imagine the Lions with Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson?

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 12:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Johnson is it
I think they should trade him, but they won't.

Sigh.
Goodbye, Gaines Adams.

hmmmm
ted ginn to the dolphins. lots of talk about people moving up for conerbacks....any chance willis could fall to us?

WOW
I'm stunned by the Ginn pick.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get Willis. He's easily my favorite guy on the board right now.

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 1:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Trade up?
I wouldn't be upset if we traded up to get him.

Not even a little bit.

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 1:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

trade up
true. he's moving into the range where trade up is becoming possible.  we'll see though apparently the broncos were looking at moving in to get him.  also heard at some point the steelers were looking at trading down with Jax to 17 so that Jax could get Revis or Hall.

by schnifin on Apr 28, 2007 2:02 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Houston needs picks
We could do this.

Hoping, hoping, hoping.

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 2:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Texans take Okoye
So Willis is still on the board.

I really shouldn't get my hopes up, but I can't help it.

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 2:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

willis
i don't think he's gonna fall past san fran and buffalo

by schnifin on Apr 28, 2007 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

value chart
fyi looking at the value chart it would cost approx our first and third to move up into the 11/12 range

Niners and Bills
I don't think the Niners will take Willis, but I do think the Bills will.  If we want him, I think we'd have to trade with the Niners.

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Damnit
Boo. I thought they'd choose someone else.

Oh well.

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 2:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yup
Carriker, Hall, Timmons, Staley all still around.

Mock Drafts: Officially Worthless
Have you seen ANY mocks with Ginn to the Dolphins or Lynch to the Bills?

Me neither.

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 2:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Rams take Carriker
Panthers on the clock.

Hard to figure what Pittsburgh will do.

After what we've seen so far, I'm done with predicting anything.

jets
jump in front of us

by schnifin on Apr 28, 2007 2:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

We're on the clock
Reevis and Carriker are off the board.

Timmons? Hall? (Moss?)

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 2:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Hall
We're dumb to take anyone else at this point. Unless there are secret trade talks with Big Ben!  haha

by Mikey on Apr 28, 2007 2:58 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It's Timmons
Just fine with that.

Welcome to the family!

by Peter Bean on Apr 28, 2007 2:59 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Ok
nevermind we love LBs, i forgot.

by Mikey on Apr 28, 2007 2:59 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

There goes Moss
If he stays healthy, he's gonna be a freak of a player.
