Troy throws in his 2 cents on Fines Ward issue
"When you see guys like Dick Butkus, the Ronnie Lotts, the Jack Tatums, these guys really went after people," Polamalu told reporters. "Now, they couldn't survive in this type of game. They wouldn't have enough money. They'd be paying fines all the time and they'd be suspended for a year after they do it two games in a row. It's kind of ridiculous."
good point. read the whole thing below.

At least the fines go to charity. There is a line where hits are dirty or cheap. Blindsiding a guy after the play is over or deliberately trying to hurt someone- those times there should be a fine, a heavy fine, and even suspension- regardless of whether an injury is caused.
Part of the problem here is the league isn’t forthcoming on what the exact offense was, nor are they consistent with fines and degree of punishments.
Ward finally got his letter
explaining what the fine was for. A ‘taunting slap’ to the helmet of Mathis, during the Jax game. Amazing.
wow
Glad to know that egos are part of the NFL’s injury prevention emphasis.
charity standing orders
Lame
That is to the biggest crock of BS I’ve ever heard (not coming out of a politician’s mouth, anyway :)). I can’t believe that he got fined for a “taunting slap”, which sounds like it was closer to a pat on the head. If it was violent, then surely he would have gotten a flag.

Troy is
absolutely right. i think the NFL just wants more money, and theyre taking it out on dumb calls on the players…especially Steelers players.
