Aaron Smith out!!
Won't play for personal reasons,.....this is REALLY bad. Without him i highly doubt we can stop their running game.
"When you're a great team, there will be distractions," head coach Mike Tomlin told Pittsburgh's WPXI. Well, there are other distractions to add to the list: left tackleMarvel Smith, cornerback Bryant McFadden, and running back Willie Parker will all be out with injuries, and defensive end Aaron Smith will also miss the game for personal reasons. Oh, and Troy Polamalu is probably still punch drunk after cracking noggins with the Bengals' Cedric Benson last week. On the upside, Ben Roethlisberger feels great!

Smith
Didn’t Aaron and his Wife just have Child? I hope nothing happen there, he wouldn’t miss this for nothing other then life altering. God bless, I hope it is something non-life altering.

nah I think maybe you’re thinking about Simmons. If Aaron Smith misses the game i’m sure its for a legit reason and all the best to him…….But this is still devastating news from a football perspective. You can’t overstate how important he is. I’d rather lose Casey than him.
actually
it’s not yet a certainty that he’s out…tomlin said he’s questionable…now usually a player that misses friday practice almost never plays but there might be an outside chance that he will be available on sunday in which case tomlin might put him in considering that first of all this isn’t injury related and secondly smith’s a consummate professional and a very smart player.
I agree, but as they keep saying (trying to be optimistic), back-ups must step up… Lets go guys!!!!! Check out the story on NFL.com, “Steel City”, just out. Great read.

Punch Drunk?
What did they mean about Troy, Punch Drunk? is he questionable? I think Tomlin said Aaron was out, can that change?

Benching Holmes is bittersweet
On one hand we need him badly this game, but on the other they need to stomp this behavior out before it becomes a more serious problem. Once again this organization shows it’s class by sending the right message.
I'm ok with it
I think there’s a good possibility that the NFL will consider it punishment enough, or maybe suspend him for a game retro-active to this one… And hopefully Holmes gets the message loud and clear to keep his nose clean for as long as he wants a good career with one of the best teams in the NFL…
At any rate, for all that this is going to be a great game, luckily it’s not even in-conference. I’d rather lose this one than some others…
Let’s hope Sweed is watching too, and learns from it.

On top of that...
Let’s hope that Sweed has learned enough about the offense to be an actual threat on Sunday. I don’t know how I feel about relying on the speed of Udfa Tiffin or Baker to stretch their defense out enough to be a serious threat.
BTW, this is my first post. Been lurking for a while, and I must say that this is by far the best Stillers blog that I’ve come across!
Cheers from the land of the pigeons and ray ray the knife! It’s awfully fun arguing football with the morons that call themselves football fans from around here. If you’d have asked them, they would have called the rest of the season a formality after week three. They were going to the superbowl, and Shane Falco was gonna be the MVP!
