Could Ryan Clark Really Play Monday ?
Bumped. Thanks for posting. This sure would be a welcome development, even if he's not able to play every last snap. (Edited only slightly) - Blitz-
An article in the Herald-Standard by Jim Wexell notes that Clark thought he could enter back into the Giants game last Sunday after he dislocated his shoulder. The medical staff took him in the tunnel and popped it back in place, but deemed it wise for him to sit out for the rest of the game, and to take off at least a week. It sounds like his shoulder is feeling pretty good now, or that he is anixous to play his old team. Either way I hope he is good to go by Monday and the medical staff and Tomlin will let him play. Thoughts?

I have both dislocated shoulders
And do Play despite it! I use some protection to keep them in place,! I dislocated the 1st time playing as DT in 2005, (left shoulder) and dislocated it like 6x more in a period of 2 years! Well, What I can say the pain at first was horrible, but YES, YOU CAN PLAY EASILY in one week.! Is worse to sleep than play a smash mouth football!
I dislocated the right shoulder 2-3 times on 2006. Since 2007 I just dislocated my shoulder(right) once, but played the day after it! Of course, now I play as OT, the game isnt even close to the NFL, but well, the protection isnt too!
I Can say he can go easily! But this could make it worse and only a surgery would let him 100%

I’m sure Ryan Clark and the team has to weigh whether him playing this week damages his chances for the rest of the season and beyond. I’m also sure that it isn’t a matter of how much pain he can handle, being that he is an NFL safety and all, I’m sure his pain threshold is beyond most people’s.

Doubtful
The Tribune Review is reporting that Ryan Clark is expected to miss the game this week. I’m sure he wants to give it a go against his former squadron, but the trainers might have the final say.

He won't be effective
When you dislocate the shoulder joint you stretch and often tear the ligament capsule which maintains the joint integrity. You are much more likely to dislocate it thereafter. He will be tentative and not nearly as effective as he should be. One week is way too soon to come back if he plans on playing for another 7 years. I’m not saying he should be put on IR, but he should be deactivated for at least 2-4 weeks to allow for adequate healing. This is a good time to give a hungry Anthony Smith a chance to redeem himself.

Won't play
Only mid-way thru season against an NFC opponent. We all know how important he is to our D, and because of that, he’ll get his rest to be fully effective.

Wouldn't be prudent ...
as the team should protect its investment and Ryan should protect his future. If I correctly remember the play during which Ryan injured himself, there wasn’t really any violent contact that caused the dislocation.

Clark
was just as big of a loss as Aaron Smith was last year. Yeah we couldnt stop the run as well but do you remember how many big plays we gave up. Thats what i like about Clark. He may not make spectacular plays but hes always in the right position and rarely gets beat by play action. Anthony Smith better keep his eyes out of the backfield, and tyrone carter is not an option in my book. He just looks slow and out of place in our defense.

misconception
I remember how many big plays we gave up – four. Four passing plays of more than 40+ yards all year. Half the number that we gave up the year before, and the year before that. And you have to remember that Anthony Smith was playing all year – every third series even in the first six games.
Just because two of the big plays were on a big stage does not mean that Anthony Smith gave up a lot of big plays. Why don’t we bench James Harrison, who didn’t lay a hand on Tom Brady even though he threw it 46 times?
