Support for Ben
I can't believe all the negativity I have read the last 24 hours. Let me remind some, but not all of you, of a couple of facts:
Including yesterdays game Ben currently ranks 6th all-time in NFL passer rating with a 90.1, and 5th all-time in Yards Per Attempt with a 7.97 average (min. 1500 attempts). Oh yea, in the most important category of winning percentage his 70.3 ranks up there with Brady (78.4), Staubach (74.6) and Montana (71.3).
The Steelers would have been about a .500 team his rookie year instead he took us to the AFC Championship. His 2nd year he won us a Super Bowl. We would not have been in the Super Bowl without him (reference his stats in the 3 road playoff games) and let's not forget "The Tackle."
Yes, he had 2 terrible INT's yesterday which cost us the game but that has happened to Brady, Staubach and Montana also. We are 6-3 and in first place in the Division even with Ben playing hurt since week 1. He gives us the best chance to win. He should start if he can play without risk of further injury.
At 6-3 let's not give up on Big Ben. In 2 weeks if we are 6-5 then maybe it is time to sit Ben to get him healthy but he completed 71% of his passes yesterday so please, let's not give up on the QB who brought us our first Super Bowl in 25 years just yet.

you forgot
that when you take away cincy, cleveland and houston he has thrown 5 TD’s and 11 interceptions on the year. he has single handedly lost games in two of the last 3 weeks and he is looking more and more like the ben of 2006 who was pretty much 80% of the reason the steelers didn’t make the playoffs. just about all his success was based on his first two years in the league. yes he played well then but he has regressed since. he doesn’t play mistake free football like the other franchise qb’s in the league. in the last three weeks they won in spite of him and they lost because of him. franchise qb’s don’t have that reputation. they can’t relive the mistakes of 2006. leftwich may not be the long term answer but like batch in ’06 he is the best option.

Go
Be a friggin Patriots fan! Why are you a Steeler fan? No one wants you here. The team would probably eat you if they ever met you. Just go be a fan of the Pats if they have everything you want. I personally like not having to cheat to win.

look at the %
hey jr since you brought up brees his INT % is 2.6 manning’s is 2.7 and ben’s is a whopping 4.6 nearly twice as much as those two. his int totals would double if he threw as much as those two.

Not necessarily true -
As we’ve all noted here, with the exemption of the last few games, we haven’t been throwing many short passes. Because of the run first mentality that has dominated here, when we do throw, it’s much more likely to be in a obviously passing situation. This allows the defense some advantages since they don’t have to worry about the run when Ben does throw. Whereas for a team like NO, Brees is much more likely to pass on first down for short yardage, a high percentage play that’s harder to intercept.
Comparisons like the one made here are extremely difficult to make while drawing accurate conclusions.

Also
I was as impressed as anyone by Byron’s performance last week, but it is far to small of a sample size to say that he’ll play better than Ben in coming weeks. I can think of dozen’s of halves that Ben has played that looked amazing, and better than Byron’s against DC. Let’s not forget how Byron got here, and take too much from too little.

why are you a steeler fan
beerman? Because you obviously have no idea what it means to root for this team. All you care about are your own little idiotic ideas, that you CONSTANTLY pander on this site. Why don’t you start cheering for the Raiders? They are a bit more suited to your style. They are the type of team to cut a coach in the middle of the season. They are the type of team that would bench Ben or cut Ben or whatever it is that your twisted mentality wants done. You sir, are completely full of shit. You get on here and rant and rave in hard to read posts, but when someone comes at you with facts what do you do? You either run and hide, or completely ignore them. Case in point…

ok i will give you
your attention that you have so desperately needed since your natural parents neglected you steelerark. if i was not a steeler fan than i would want the steelers to continue to follow the status quo and continue their deep slide into the abyss. what i have continually put in my posts have been nothing but facts backed up with stats. the reason people like you hate it (and me) for that matter is that i don’t drink the kool aid and hang on ben’s every word and treat him like a god. everything you bring up about ben that is positive is mostly rooted in his first two years. ok yeah the steelers won the super bowl in spite of ben. great. tampa bay won a super bowl with brad johnson and baltimore won with trent dilfer what’s your point? that doesn’t give ben a free pass the rest of his career. just like your job, you are paid to produce. when you don’t your employer will look elsewhere for somebody who will. there did that satisfy you? or do you need another pacifier?

Do you even know what your talking about? Most of his success has come in his first two years?
Where were you in 07. A coma?
And having the 4th best 3 game stretch in post season history is not winning the super bowl in spite of Ben. Sorry but you have backed nothing up. Stats? Right Your the laughing stock of this site right now.

jason you are retarded. you just proved it in your own words. the last 3 years he has played ‘07 is the only good one. thats really consistent isn’t it?? so therefore you have go back 3 and 4 years to justify how good he is. there you have “most of his success has come in his first two years” that is a regression. he is like GM stock.
