Make or break?
So, all signs point to BR starting again this week. Tomlin has made pretty clear he is going to keep starting him, hurt or not! This mentality is still crazy to me! So this is the game I believe it HAS to start turning around. If BR doesn't start clicking this game, yes, I am afraid we are going to be watching the playoffs without our black and gold taking part. Now is the time to step up, and step up BIG! We NEED a win, bad. I'm not talking about winning by a field goal. I'm talking a convincing win over a good team!

Decision Criteria
Whether or not this is a bad thing is linked to the decision criteria established. If he has quality reps and re-established his timing, then it might not be a bad thing. If it is simply whether he is healthy enough, then that is another thing. Whether his quality reps causes a change in offensive strategy and tactics, then that is another. This is definitely an IDOTS issue.
Maybe a "must win"
But only to avoid dropping 3 in a row at home. Unless he gets hurt (again/more) I’d imagine that we’ll also see Ben play against an incredibly weak Bengals team on Thursday … nothing like playing some losers to get yourself back in synch.
It’s all timing. And I’d say that Holmes has to work on his timing and routes as well … the majority on interceptions come when Ben’s throwing to #10. And though statistics can be very misleading, I never overlook the power of coincidence.
And I’ll take a win by a field goal any day. A win’s a win. There’s something to be said about 60 solid minutes of domination, but on Monday it’s not gonna matter how they did it; all that’ll matter is if you’re looking at a W or L in the results column.
I think more than anything they have to win to reestablish Heinz Field as one of the more difficult stadiums for opposing teams to play in. And look for a deep one to Holmes; I have a feeling this is the week they try to reestablish his deep-threat presence.
Holmes Observation
This needs study, but my mind tells me that Santonio has Burress Syndrome. One of the things I didn’t like about Plaxico was that he didn’t really fight for the ball as a Steeler; it had better be right on the money or I ain’t catching it. Santonio is not as bad as Plaxico, but my sensing is that he deosn’t come back as much as he should.
1 point win
is fine by me. It is not college football. You don’t need style points to get to the big game. I was at the Redskin game, and I was thing wow Ben has to be hurting. Pull him, but after last weeks game other an the Ints, he wasn’t bad. So far I agree with Tomlin, Ben isn’t seasoned enough to miss the practice reps.
