Early Game Open Thread

Use this thread to comment on the early games. It would be really nice for the Giants to beat (and beat up) the Ravens for us. What games are you guys watching?

bengals

keeping an eye out on Cincy. Curious if they’re about to start a much better stretch of football.

Watching New Orleans as always when I can. Not a very good team even though Brees is still playing well.

Giants are rolling.

agreed

here in the greater new york area, i am sitting at home getting to see both the bengals/eagles and giants/ravens. i am enjoying the giants spanking the ravettes, but the cincy game has me a little more worried. the bungle defense is playing much better and they be putting together a much better second half.

ah

Now we’re getting a taste of just how for ‘real’ Baltimore is. About to be 16-0 or 20-0.

20-0! that’s exactly what the doctor ordered!

It would be fantastic if we could have a 2 game swing in this next two weeks with us and Bmore. Wonder who they play next…i forget

23 yard punt

from philly. thats like the third miserable punt ive noticed today. must be cold and blustery up in that part of the country.

btw

anybody have any thoughts on the wildcat and why we should or should not be using it? I kinda think we should be experimenting with it or something similarly creative.

by Michael Bean on Nov 16, 2008 2:08 PM EST reply actions

how about

just experimenting with dennis dixon

by schnifin on Nov 16, 2008 2:09 PM EST up reply actions

i agree. seems like we’ve got some personnel to make it work, too. it ought to at least be a potential wrinkle that defenses have to scheme for. i see that schnifin just mentioned d. dixon, but i don’t think we’ve been dressing him for games have we?

We haven't been dressing him

but if you want to use him, you dress him

by schnifin on Nov 16, 2008 2:16 PM EST up reply actions

We’d have to dress 3 QB’s, because I’d still rather have lefty in there if Ben got hurt.

true

but if you want to get him in the game, you get him in the game

by schnifin on Nov 16, 2008 2:22 PM EST up reply actions

true

maybe we could dress him instead of someone useless like Willie Colon

absolutely right. i agree in theory, but of course the practical side of that is that somebody else gets deactivated. with all the injuries we’ve had, everybody on the depth chart is a potential player. still, i’m with you. i’d like to see what the kid can do in a kind of slash role in the occasional wildcat.

well, why not both? that’s what i meant when i said it seems like we’ve got the personnel for it. we’ve got two guys who can run and throw. that ought to drive defenses crazy.

sure makes our defense look better

by BadMaafala on Nov 16, 2008 2:23 PM EST up reply actions

does indeed make us look better

Giants seem to be here to stay and we were toe to toe with them.

by Michael Bean on Nov 16, 2008 2:25 PM EST up reply actions

he is really really good. he looks like the kind of player that would be perfect in black and gold.

dang that cincy defense. how is it that we made the eagles look like superbowl contenders but against everyone else they look mediocre? so freaking frustrating.
