HOF 25 Semifinalists

Steeler fans dont have much for this years HOF nomination, but the couple we have are pretty damn good. Linky!

Rod Woodson, can anyone say shoe in? Even though he went to Baltimore I still like the guy and I'm glad he got a ring. Coming back to play in XXX was a pretty big statement as to this guys commitment and desire to win.

And Dermontti Dawson, a 12 year consistent starter. Hes been on the list since 05. 7 time pro bowler, but hes tougher to vote in. Lineman really have to stand out.

woodson

is my all time favorite steeler and is a no-brainer for the hof. he might be the only player in nfl history who can be considered both, one of the greatest cb’s of all time, and one of the greatest safeties of all time. i was 13 when they released him…i cried.

good to see him on this list, and it will be good to have another steeler in canton.

and, there’s no way dermonti dawson doesn’t end up in canton. he was considered one of the best centers of all time while he was still playing. hopefully, this is the year.

Dawson

It will be a crime if Dermontti Dawson, possibly the best center of all time and certainly the most durable, does not end up in Canton.

Remember in the 90’s when we supposedly had those really good offensive lines and when guys would leave Pittsburgh they were never quite as good (sort of the way our linebackers leave and usually end up subpar)? Dawson made guys like John Jackson and Leon Searcy look better than they were. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Steelers of the 1990’s never double teamed a single nose tackle because they had Dermontti.

Woodson is certainly deserving of a spot in Canton, and this in no way is meant to demean him, but Dermontti Dawson was the most dominant player at his position on those Steeler teams.

Dawson was crazy durable

Dawson played hard until the end of his career when he had problems. But 181 starts is nothing to laugh at. Amazingly, he started EVERY game from the 1989 to the 1998 seasons.

And they have him on record for what 4 fumbles?! Thats a pretty clean record. Those probably werent his fault in the first place, maybe pickup and drops.

HOF

Yeah, I saw that on the NFLN last night. It might be hard for Dawson to get in this year. Woodson and Bruce Smith are sure first ballot HOFers. Shannon Sharpe might be as well. That will be half of the class right there.

Dawson

Webster is in and deservedly so, but Dawson was even better. He was the best center of his era along with Bruce Mathews. He WILL get in. Maybe not this year, but eventually.

Reading in the post gazette today that everyone’s favorite patriots coach is advocating Dawson.
