Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New England Patriots - Gameday Open Thread

It's been ten days since we've seen the Pittsburgh Steelers. Who knows what to expect on the road in hostile territory but I can't wait to find out!

You know the routine here.

Go Steelers!

Going to head to the bar shortly. I am going to need to get absolutely loaded for this game. I’m nervous as hell. I hope the steelers back up my claims this weekend with the enemy patriots inlaws in my house.

I must go to a bar today too, not showing locally.

Let's Go!

Word on the street (http://nflfromthesidelines.blogspot.com/) says that McFadden isn’t playing today. You can read past posts for the reasons why that may not be the case.

Personally I feel that if McFadden is not playing solely because of his FO-status he is not welcome in Pittsburgh. He needs the door to kick his ass on the way out. We don’t need selfish school boys on our defense.

FWP Unseen So Far

My cuz works the sideline at Foxboro. Says there hasn’t been a sighting of the fast one as of yet. Possibly not going to go today?

Not on TV over here...

…I’m in the NY Metro area. I’ll have to seek out the game from an online stream. I hope I find a good one!

What do you do when you're underage and the game isn't showing on TV?

And you live in Chicago.

Things could be worse. We could have kept (name redacted).

Live stream

http://www.myp2p.eu/

You’re going to have to download a bunch of programs, however.

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

Guys, can someone help me out with a link to an online feed? The one on channelsurfing.net is not the best of quality. Thanks.

I've Had It...

With Tomlin taking the ball to start the game. If you win the coin toss, you let the defense establish the tempo.

shooting ourselves in the foot...

why do we ALWAYS do that against the Patriots?

You guys better win.

how do you do that to yourself?!?!?

that was just ridiculous, seriously I am not reactive, but if that’s were Ben’s head is then sit him down and let him collect his thoughts, that was one of the worst interceptions I’ve seen him throw.

Where is russell? Im blind to the game so I need you guys to fill me in.

by Mechem on Nov 30, 2008 4:27 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

listening to hillgrove and ilkin on the internet, they are saying that both kicks have been short, and taken by davis who is playing up in front of russell.

really hate the way we are playing

it seems that the Patriots always have our number. Is it too much to ask that we come out fast and really play well against these guys?

We gave JAX a pick six, we can still come back

by Mechem on Nov 30, 2008 4:31 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I am not sure

these guys really have our number. It seems that they just fall apart mentally playing the pats. Look at Ike just blow a coverage. Have you seen him do that all year?

by SteelerBuddha on Nov 30, 2008 4:33 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Its a mental thing

Its like, since theyve sorta owned us we cant get over it.

by Mechem on Nov 30, 2008 4:34 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yeah

we are trying to do too much. Ike was going for the pick. He ended up looking foolish.

by BoiseSteeler on Nov 30, 2008 4:36 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

since we cant get it done on short yardage :-(

by Jonny B. on Nov 30, 2008 4:46 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wowwww a FG had NO balls

How you gonna kick a FG…

You need to score. Look what we did against SD, if we lose that 4th and 1 we can get a safety. That sucks.

Just went down like a needle in a balloon. Poor call, Tomlin.

by Hines Ward on Nov 30, 2008 4:46 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think they gave us the spot of the 1st push

I thought he clearly got the 1st on the 2nd effort

by shleeve on Nov 30, 2008 4:46 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

they should've

challenged the spot of the ball…all he has to do is break the plane of the line of gain needed, just like the endzone…

by SteelCityMafiaNewOrleans on Nov 30, 2008 4:46 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

With your D always go for it on 4 and 1.. its worth more than a FG to back a team up like that..especially away!

by lostinbrownscountry on Nov 30, 2008 4:47 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

if that was the endzone

they wouldve challenged. how foolish ]we sometimes are when we don’t apply rules or principles in an “across the board” manner

We did a short TD pass to the flat for Gary russell against the bungholes why not try that.

Great Defensive Stand

We have gotten really lucky on a couple plays. The non-call on William Gay and the drop by Moss. Both should have gone for long yards. I am not sure I like the idea of a three man rush. It seems that we are just giving them a chance to make a play especially when the guys we have rushing are Hampton and Kirschke.

why do we keep bringing retreads in… get a young pup happy to be making a living who can kick it… i watch college games all the time and see tons of guys kicking for 45 yard averages… we only need 1!!

Does this seem familiar

We are out playing them on Defense. But special teams and offense are making just enough bone-headed plays to keep us in a serious hole.

by SteelerBuddha on Nov 30, 2008 5:18 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

uh yeah sounds about right

Thats pretty much what sums up our season right there.

by Mechem on Nov 30, 2008 5:18 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

time

we have time to right this on O though.. im just not sold on BA.. hopefully he does just enough to get us there…

by lostinbrownscountry on Nov 30, 2008 5:21 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

what is this, what is this

we’re allowed to return the ball after a kickoff twice in one game?

by Alba on Nov 30, 2008 5:21 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

where was the holding? Where was the block in the back?

Good deal. We need that. Now put the damn ball in the damn RZ

by Mechem on Nov 30, 2008 5:21 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Gary Russell

Is making me a believer. Its seems like he refuses to go down after first contact. He probably won’t run one back for a score. But it sure is nice to start at the 35 or 40 as opposed to the 20

by SteelerBuddha on Nov 30, 2008 5:23 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Moore!

I love that guy

by Alba on Nov 30, 2008 5:23 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nice job

He broke about 4 tackles.

by SteelerBuddha on Nov 30, 2008 5:23 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow

A run followed by a dump off the the running back. Dreams do come true!

M Moore is our W Welker

by graysteel on Nov 30, 2008 5:24 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Now convert this 3rd

we better score before the half, cause our HC loves to give the other team the ball.

You should ALWAYS defer. especially with an epic D

Run on 3rd and 2?

I am sorry. Someone must have spiked my egg nog with high grade acid. Because I must be hallucinating.

by SteelerBuddha on Nov 30, 2008 5:26 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not so sure

Great blitz. But Ben would have made the first guy miss. It was the second guy who was COMPLETELY unblocked, that made it impossible.

by SteelerBuddha on Nov 30, 2008 5:27 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think he did

make the guy miss – just stepped right into the other guy

by SteelerBuddha on Nov 30, 2008 5:31 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Why the hell did we stop running

You run for 28 yards on 4 carries, why did you stop.

Soon as you pass you friggin get sacked. RUN THE BALL UNTIL ITS DEAD

by Mechem on Nov 30, 2008 5:26 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

There are four other teams giving up more sacks than we are?

by StinkBomb on Nov 30, 2008 5:27 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

love how we're giving the defense some rest

and maybe we’ll even score on this drive?

by Alba on Nov 30, 2008 5:27 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

just run the ball

How can you pass after a 10 yard run. Its not right. Its unamerican. Its insane.

by Mechem on Nov 30, 2008 5:27 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

why not keep running? Arians game plan has been lacking as usual. Empty backfield on 1st down and mega 3 and 4 play then punt.

by Mechem on Nov 30, 2008 5:29 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs
