Leftwich

OK! This is what's Up! I am tired of the Big Ben offense guys. I am a proud steeler fan but I cannot continue staying quiete about our quarterback. He is sluggish, apethetic, lazy and comfortable. When he is quarterbacking, he is not producing stellar drives that leaves the oppenant concerned.

But did you see what happened when Leftwich, a quarterback who has been on the bench, not playing, rusty, and IN A NEW TEAM AND NEW OFFENSE, came in and with that great TEAM around him made two STELLAR drives that left the oppenant amazed at his performance. Did you see Zorns face when his super defense got mutilated by a so called SECOND STRING (i dont think so) QUARTERBACK.

I am afraid to tell the STEELER NATION that unless Big Ben gets his non-chaulent attitude out the way, MR. LEFTWICH SHOULD BE OUR LEADER TO THE BIG GAME! I BELIEVE LEFTWICH IS THE MAN OF THE HOUR AND COULD EASILY BECOME THE MAN OF THE YEAR IN THE STEEL CITY.

HEY WE JUST A BLACK MAN TO START LEADING OUR NATION, BECAUSE ITS TIME FOR CHANGE, AND I BELIEVE ITS TIME FOR CHANGE IN THE STEEL CITY, WE NEED THIS BLACK MAN(LEFTWICH) TO TAKE THE LEADERSHIP ROLE IN THE OFFENSE. (doesn't have anything to do with race, if your mature enough to understand that)

Alright, that's all i got to say and hopefully someone from the steelers coaching staff reads this and is as bold as I am and says something. You guys know I am right! Allright - Peace Out, Homies!

Leftwich

I’m not so sure that BR is nonchalant, lazy or apathetic. Hard to tell from our foxholes so such an assessment is negligent in my arrogant opinion. For the life of me I have no clue why “black” enters the discussion at all; it is not a fact bearing on the problem that I can tell. BR seems to be struggling right now-is it the injuries, is it that he developed some self-doubts, has he made physical adjustments to allow for injured play that now have him screwed up? Who knows. If you remember BR’s performances when he was straight and we all loved him, he performed just like BL did Monday night. Rather, BL performed just like Ben.

LEFTWICH

The only reason “black” entered the discussion is because “Leftwich” is black. No ill intent was meant. I love Big Ben myself. I am just noting that until he gets back to where he was, we should not lose another season just because he is struggling. We are the “PITTSBURG STEELERS” we are “CHAMPIONS” and I believe we should win every “SUPER BOWL” because we are the “PITTSBURGH STEELERS!” I am passionate about the pride of being a “STEELER FAN” and I know, just as you said, “Big Ben is Struggling!” Give him a chance to get his “FIRE” back and then he should his get starting job back. If you notice when comes on the field, there is no fire (no passion) like there was the year they won the big one. When Leftwich walked on the field, my God it looked like a “GLADIATOR” had just walked out in a coliseum fixing to kill a lion.

I BELIEVE THIS IS OUR YEAR! WE SHOULD WIN THE SUPER BOWL HANDS DOWN HOMIES! EVERYONE START SENDING OUT BLOGS SAYING THIS IS THE YEAR OF THE STEELERS!

Who calls anyone “homies” anymore?

my eyes are kinda hurting...

any chance you could go easy on the ALL CAPS? BB is the starter on this team – I think he should absolutely be rested this week, because we should be able to run on Indy all day. However, any talk about a quarterback competition is sheer lunacy – would you rather be rooting for cleveland or the lions?

lol to the OP

Dude, come on.

Ben won us a championship. He broke rookie records. He still produces plays that have me sitting there in amazement wondering just wtf happened and making me tivo the hell out of every drive.

Remember, who did washington prepare for? Mr. Roethlisberger. Not lefty. And he surprised them. Plus Arians finally started running the ball when BL came in.

Lets remember when Ben runs the no huddle our offense is better than ever. Blame the OC not the QB.

And in conclusion. You suck.

Gee, you are soo right about Ben having a “non-chaulent attitude!”

by frankrmineo on Nov 6, 2008 9:18 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I'll tell you what.

If Ben is given the nod to start sunday and continues to deliver a subpar perfonmance like the first half of the season. Some of you Big Ben lovers are going to hear a mouth-full of reasons from me why Brian Leftwhich should start some games immediately.

Also our offensive line is slowly but surely showing signs of improvement. So there’s another argument.

Huh? Haven’t we already got 14 mouth-fulls of the same crap for the past two weeks? Try something different to make yourself stand out. Maybe FWP should be benched for MM or Ward should sit for Nate. Then you’d be writing something that we haven’t already seen from 5 or 6 different fanposts over the past week and a half.

Oh and who is Brian Leftwhich?

Does Byron Leftwich have a brother who spells his last name slightly differently? And how well can he throw the ball or escape the pocket?

by cgolden on Nov 6, 2008 12:46 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I heard Brian leftwhich is the twin brother that Bryon ate about 2 years ago, that is why he is so fat and horribly un-mobile.

On ben vs byron

Bottom line is you should start the guy thats in the best shape.

Ben can play at 90% and still play like a star. But I think when he gets down into the 75% range he loses a lot of that. We saw that again last week.

Its worth noting that Ben hasnt played very well against the NFC east, but his numbers against the AFC are great.

I truthfully have no qualms with him sitting out ONE game to rest up and get better. Treat it as a bye week for him. Sometimes thats all you need. Then maybe he can be 100% for the rest of the future.

Ben Lovers?

WHo are these people you speak of? lol… People are calling out our the qb of a 6-2 team thats at the moment the # 2 team in the AFC, and leading the division. Considering we are playing the toughest schedule in the NFL, and were predicted to win only 10 games this season by most, can you really be upset with the way BR has played with the injuries? Really, can you seriously do that? Most quarterbacks would have been using that shit as an excuse as to why their performance has dropped but not ours. He never mentions it, and just drags himself out there every Sunday and man up! That what I would expect from the quarterback of the Steelers. He truly epitomizes what the city, fans and team is all about! No prima dona shit! Im sorry some of you fair weather fans dont understand that, but I for one am getting sick of all your bitching about it! C-mac, Ben’s had a few bad games and you want to throw him under the bus? Some of you guys forget the gutsy performances against Baltimore, Cleveland and Jacksonville! We aren’t 6-2 without Ben. And another thing, how much of a fan could you really be of B

….of Byron Leftwich if you dont even know his fucking name! Real Steeler fans know the names of it’s players.

MVP

Espn has a list for fan nation to vote on MVP for the first half, Ben is one of 4 players on there. But you idiots are right, lets bench him for a guy cut by the Falcons…

Byron is a great back-up, and he could start somewhere(Oakland…) and will next year. But we have the best quarterback in the NFL. He led us to the first Super Bowl since the 70’s. Any of you idiots who call yourself Steeler Fans and dont get what Ben does should just stick on your band wagon and watch the Patriots so that you can suck on Brady’s dick like ESPN.

Im sorry I am angry, but Ben is our quarterback. He is great, and why are you people turning on him.

by gimpsta7 on Nov 6, 2008 1:57 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I agree almost 100%...

I love Ben, and I know we wouldn’t be where we are right now without him. However, you can not deny that the BEST our offense has looked this season was the second half of the Redskins game. Leftwich is a solid quarterback. Is he as good as Ben? No, of course not. Ben is struggling right now, and unfortuantley, Leftwich looked better in every aspect of the game. I see nothing wrong with letting Ben sit out a week or two, heal up, and get his head on straight. Right now, it’s not! I don’t know how anyone could argue that? Just a thought.

by Cdsumm on Nov 6, 2008 2:02 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

If 13 points in a half is the best our offense has looked the entire season then we’re going nowhere.

by cgolden on Nov 6, 2008 2:27 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Wasn't judging by points!

I was saying it was the best the offense looked playing as a team! There was a spark, an new energy, passes were popping, on target, and being completed! That was NOT happening the first half of the game, nor the prior couple games. I’m sure not trying to start shit! I’m just calling it as the game was played! We looked like shit in the first half, and a team the second. Why start someone who is messed up both physically and seemingly mentally when we have a decent back up quarterback that can get the job done. I’m not saying he is better than Big B. But he is playing better at the moment.

by Cdsumm on Nov 6, 2008 2:35 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

1st Half vs. 2nd Half

I understand the offense looked better in the second half but lets not act like they were the greatest show on turf. The offense generated 6 points with 123 yards in the first half and 13 points with 140 yards in the second half. They weren’t awesome and it wasn’t the best offense we’d seen all season. They were efficient and conservative, nothing more.

by cgolden on Nov 6, 2008 2:48 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Nah

Best it looked that game? Sure. But there were many points this season where the offense looked just as good, nay, better. The entire first half of Houston comes to mind.

by Chicago Steeler on Nov 6, 2008 3:54 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

True...

But that was the first game of the season. That was before Ben was battered in every following game. To me, Ben just hasn’t “been on” since he was hit a gazillion times against the eagles. So yeah, the O played excellet against the Texans. But, the second half of that skins game was the best I have seen them since. I’m not knocking Ben. I would much rather have him start, hands down. But I would rather have him start at 100, not 75, or whatever he’s at right now! My point is, I see nothing wrong with resting him to in hopes of getting him back to that 100 when we have a capable back up. Worst case scenario, Fatty plays like shit. Fine, take him out and put BB in? I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Second half adjustments

You know, its very typical in most of our games to look better in the second half. Thats called coaching.

Its not all Leftwich.

by Mechem on Nov 6, 2008 2:48 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I have a hard time attributing any offensive progress in the second half to coaching…

The Game

I was at the game and there was 60% Steeler fans there. Ben stood on the side line jumping up and down cheering. He still led the team form the side line. Byron did what he did because he made 2 awesome passes. The bomb to Nate, and the Bullet in the 3rd. The bottom line is that the defense dismantled the Skins. The blocked punt took all the momentum from them, half the stadium left after that. It wasnt Byron. He was great, and I love him on our team. But dont forget how he has looked at other times when he has come in with us having a huge lead. He throws incompletions and he has a wind up like he learned how to pitch in Japan. If we are going to win, it will be with Ben leading us. He is a man among boys, both in how he plays, and how the team looks to him for strength. Anyone who has played a sport knows what it means to the team when your leader keeps getting up after getting knocked down. He could suck, but the image of him fighting will keep us going.

The Chargers lost the championship game because LT sat crying under his helmet on the sideline. They were a great team that just lost all their heart seeing their leader pouting. Ben is a soldier, and he is our Major out there. Those men need him, his stats could equal Ryan Leaf, and as long as he leads us like Bradshaw did, we will continue to be a strong team.

To quote The Replacements, “We need Heart”
