Want More Lawrence Timmons?

Check out his blog. There's some pretty good content on there, including the occasionaly post from #94 himself. Kudos to Lawrence for utilizing the tools at his disposal to give fans a better look at his life as a rookie in the NFL.

Nice.

I’d be happy if they posted some more videos of him in action. Check out this one on youtube, especially the second sack. One way to win a game? Destroy the quarterback.

WOW

Hadn’t seen that before.

I was firmly entrenched in the ‘play Foote for now’ camp but that kind of speed needs to be on the field.

Unless of course the Evil Genious LeBeau is saving him to release on some poor QB down the road… i.e. Manning, Rivers, or Collins :)

CRUNCH

Wow. Had forgotten those plays.

That preseason game sucked though other than that. We were pretty flat.

When is your interview with him, by the way? ;)

by steelguy99 on Nov 6, 2008 2:23 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

lol

Dont think I’m not trying brother.

He’s rep’ed by Rosenhaus though. Tough inroads so far.

How much per interview? ;)

I’ll pitch in a fiver.

lol...

sad thing is, with rosenhaus, its not that preposterous to think thats what it would take.

funny story on a similar note:

one of my best friends asked Roger Clemens for an autograph back when he was still with the Sox. My friend was like 8 years old or something.

Roger’s response?: You got 20 bucks kid?

He was crushed.

cool

I want to see him rush the passer once he’s got a spin move, or just some counter moves in general.

Hopefully Woodley is helping him out with that. Supposedly their friends and Deebo is his mentor…

Idea

Does anyone think we should just start 10 Linebackers and Troy? I am totally joking here, but it is insane how hard these guys play. Im not old enough to remember the 70’s, but damn, this is the best linebacking corps I have ever seen in my life.

Lamar and Lawrence = best 1,2 draft picks we have had in a looong time.

LB

Been watching the Steelers religiously since the 74 season. They have had some great LB corps. I can understand you thinking this is one of the best corps you have ever seen. It really does have the potential over time to equal some of the great tandems in Steelers history. Time will tell. Pro Bowl totals and Championships will be the measurements to the likes of Lambert, Ham, Russell & Lloyd, Greene, Kirkland, Brown.
To add I really feel last years draft will go down as an excellent draft. I agree with you about 56 & 94 and feel they are both Pro Bowl players. Add in contributors Spaeth and Gay and pending Sepulveda’s healthy return and that’s a pretty sweet couple days in April.

We have some standout special teams guys that our deep in the depth chart at LB too. It’s not inconceivable on the steelers for these undrafted free agent special teams to eventually become monster LB starters.

Speaking of, I just learned that James Harrison benched 475 lbs. at his combine. God himself struggles with that kind of weight.

'07 class

Baker, Stapleton, and Russell are from that class as well.

Right! Love That 07 Class!

I’m only hoping that next year we as happy with Rashard, Sweed, Davis, Mundy and Humpal. A little disappointing right now but time will tell about 08.

HOLY F*CKING SHIT

Describe the biggest hit of your career:
It was in a high school game in the state finals, and I was mad because we were about to lose. On the last play of the game they ran a sweep, and I cut it back on this kid and laid him out. He had a seizure right there on the field. I guess I let loose a lot of stress on him.

Via his blog.

scary

As much as I like foote, Lebeau needs to get #94 on the field more often. He is scary good.

Maturity

Those blog entries are pretty impressive, especially in who mature and reflective he seems. Even though the defense played very well against the Giants, Timmons take responsibility for not helping his team win more. He really seems honestly reflective about how he thinks he needs to improve and how he plans to do that. Pretty surprising coming from a pro athlete; I think this bodes well for his future development.

Careful what you take from that. Some of those blogs, and I have no evidence that his is one, but… some of those “athlete” blogs are more or less filtered through the desk of a professional writer.

I don’t know how seriously Timmons took his studies, but the writing there is of a much higher quality than I would assign to a linebacker. If Porter had a blog, and he wrote it himself, I can pretty much guarantee that it would be unreadable.

So enjoy it, but take it with a grain of salt, is maybe my point.

Guns don't kill people. Lamar Woodley kills people.

I’m sure it is filtered, but I get the impression that it was probably originally written by him and then went to a filter. It seems pretty “real”. As opposed to Ben’s where I sincerely doubt he has even seen what goes up on his page that he “writes”. Najeh was definitely rolling getting the most real blog going, but he seems to have stopped after he signed with the steelers.

hahaha

I really think it’s a good chance that was Dookie…

its filtered

I’ve been dealing with some schmoe who was pimping LTs blog. It was kinda cool and I thought I might get an interview so I did it, but lets be clear that this was a Drew Rosenhaus hired agency to run this blog.

by Blitzburgh on Nov 9, 2008 7:29 AM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I had to go dig up this bit I remember from “ben’s” blog.

“I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving and got to eat a lot of great food. I certainly did, as my parents, grandma and sister came over to my house for a few days. It was a definite treat. I hope that everyone is looking forward to Christmas now, because I am… I have seen so many people out decorating their houses. Yes, I even put up my lights already, but I need to go to the store and get some more.”

Man, if that’s ben, I want a new quarterback.

might be

Ben’s not eloquent in person, “Brett Favre is Brett Favre”, so he might not be eloquent in writing either.
