The Steelers have released veteran running back Najeh Davenport and promoted rookie linebacker Donovan Woods to their 53-man roster.
Davenport played in four games this season and averaged 21.7 yards on 10 kickoff returns. He also gained five yards on two carries.
The Steelers had re-signed Davenport after injuries decimated the team's running back corps in late September. The Steelers could be thin at running back Sunday when they host the Colts.
If Willie Parker does not play because of a bad shoulder -- he is officially listed as doubtful for the 4:15 p.m. game -- the Steelers will have just two running backs on their 45-man game day roster, Mewelde Moore and Gary Russell. Fullback Carey Davis, though, can also play running back.
Woods has played in four games and been credited with five tackles on special teams.
