Running Back Concerns?

With Fast Willie on the shelf, Mendenhall gone,  the Steelers now cut Davenport and sign Woods from the PS.  That leaves Moore, Davis, and Russell in the backfield!..  Haven't heard if Russell is fully back from his last injury, but would think/hope he is.

Why did they cut Davenport?  OK, he looks like a truck to a sports car on KO returns, but aren't we a bit light in the backfield?

Interesting to have only 2-3 RB's (ok, Mc'Hugh can be a FB) and then add a LB to the ~12 or so we already have?

Not concerned

about the backs or lack of depth until we have another injury at that position…god forbid. I think all of those guys can do a servicable job and personally I would like to see Davis in for short yardage situations..a FB dive would have been nice at the goal line but not the same play 3 times with Moore.

I think they cut Davenport for two reasons. First was Woodley was injured so they brought Woods up to play ST and be a backup. Second is remember Ryan Mundy played like 2 preseason games before getting hurt. Well he had to clear medical waivers I think or some sort of waivers but for the Steelers that took like 8 weeks maybe more right until now basically. They can claim him again and I think that is why you saw those transactions with Davenport and Woods.
