Good-bye Dookie--for good!

On a little lighter note, the Colts have signed our former, former, former, former (that should help me get to the 75 words) RB/KR Dookie Davenport. Here are his comments after the signing,

“They [Pittsburgh] let me go, then they brought me back, then they let me go, then they brought me back, then they let me go and then I got the call here,” Davenport said Thursday. “I was supposed to go to the New York Jets [after he was waived by the Steelers the last time]. They called me and told me that they were going to bring me in [early this week]. And then [Monday night] I got the call to come here. I got here Tuesday.

“They [Pittsburgh] released me [right before the Colts game] and brought me back the next Wednesday. And then played like two more games [with the Steelers]. When I got released [on Nov. 8], I was rooting for the Colts [to win the Nov. 9 game].”

And after al the love Steeler fans showed him, particular on this site!

Screw him!

He was a crappy player and he came from the UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI! Not alot of players are busts like he was in the NFL from THE U! I do not blame you guys for getting Mendenhall, as I thought he was the best Running Back in the draft. Davenport was a piece of poo, as you guys have already stated here. Let him go to one of the worst rushing offenses in the NFL.

Najeh

He could have been good for our team but it didn’t work out. He did some great things for the Packers in critical situations. I think every one of us would have felt jerked around being signed, released, signed, released, … . No true professional wants to be on the shelf just in case; well, lazy folks who want to get paid for doing nothing do. He’ll probably regret going out with those words, but that’s why critical [or level-headed] thinking should always be done before opening one’s mouth.

Ditto that

We used him like a replacement RB and that’s never going to leave a smile on a player’s face. It’s unfortunate.

On the other, we played him. He had chances to prove his was good enough for a permanent position. After not making the grade all season long, the catch and release program he was on should not have been a surprise.

Once russell took over there was no chance for dookie on kickoffs or short yardage.

Maybe neither are much more than short yardage backs, but russell runs with good pad level, falls forward, and keeps moving his feet. Dookie runs straight up, falls flat, and stops immediately. There’s a place for him somewhere though, but he’ll be a journeyman for the rest of his career.

Yeah

Obviously he really has not worked out as a starter for just about anybody. I mean our offense was abysmal toward the end of the season after we lost FWP.

Hes had his fair share of chances and I would like to think he could be content with being used the way he was. Obviously some job security would be nice for the guy but in the NFL RB’s are plentiful.

And on KR’s, man I couldnt stand watching him run those back.

I don't blame him, either.

I just found it funny. I’m sure he is just trying try to win over his new teammates. Teams are really deseparate for warm bodies this time of year in

… the RB position.

Look at Denver.

They were forced to re-sign the “skivvy stealing” Tatum Bell.

Yeah, the man needs to make some money. I hope he’s happy wherever he ends up, and thank him for filling in when needed here.

Thanks for all your help

I think the best way to write this headline:

Dookie plops in Indianapolis.

But anyway, I was surprised that Denver didnt go to him, but I guess Tatum Ring My Bell knew the system.

That would have been better. :-)

That's messed up

Now I must go to the restroom and take a Davenport.

I see your bet and raise you 2 craps

Where was Davenport when R. Kelly was recording his “Trapped in the closet” series? I bet you we wouldnt have had that lousy piece of work from R. Kelly if Dookie had been in that closet.

Anyway, I have a feeling he will play ping pong again from the Indy roster. But maybe not. Who knows.

Anyway happy trails dookie, and try not to skid on the turf in Indy.

You know what's going to happen now?

Instead of picking out the nearest tackler and running right into him, Dookie is gonna get in there on a kickoff and bust one for like 50 or 60 yards. I just hope it doesn’t happen when and if we have to face them again in the playoffs!

by Jonny B. on Dec 13, 2008 1:57 AM EST reply actions

bust one for 50 yards? dookie?

‘boys already have a half way decent KR who doesn’t crap in peoples closets. ok, thats the last time, its not even funny anymore. :0

Observation

I first found BTSC because it was frequently cited in the list of Steeler artilces to read on the Pittsburgh team site, online CNN/SI sports; made me think there was something to it. One hasn’t seen it referenced in quite a while now. I think it is because of comments like those found throughout this particular thread. Really sad to see this junk thinking on a site noted for “level-heading thinking” and “thoughtful discussion.”

Come down of your horse. There is nothing wrong with keeping the conversation “light” around here once in a while.

It's a fanpost.

I assume that fanposts are a forum for the fans.

The post wasn’t meant to be a hard hitting news item like the ones you can find on the home page or in other posts. I came across Dookie’s comments and they struck me as funny. He said he was rooting for the Colts because we had just released him (again!), but then he comes back to us for two more paychecks. Who was he rooting for those games?

The dude was arrested for breaking into a women’s dorm and defecating in some chick’s closet. Tatum Bell alledgedly stole Rudi Johnson’s underwear. Those are the facts. If you don’t find this even a little bit humorous, oh well.
