Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens - 2nd Half Open Thread
Quite an impressive drive by Baltimore to close the half. This is two good teams going at it. Pittsburgh ball at about the 10 minute mark of the 3rd.
Let's go Pittsburgh. AFC North title in sight.

oh man
?!? the zebras are back – so its to tackle silverback when he’s in your backfield about to sack you- but if Ray Lewis slips going for the tackle then its a hold.
Helmets
I always notice during games against other teams with black helmets that their helmets are really shiney and ours look like crap, a dull sheen at best…
bad joke
That reedfense joke was painful

So that has happened all year long I guess, and yeah i know there have been a bunch were ben has held on to long, but that first sack by lewis is a prime example of the miscues
we know the lines not great
Thats not a news flash. But everytime a sack happens, dont need to just throw up ones hands and say the line sucks.

He was standing behind the linemen trying to prop him up – didn’t anticipate the delayed blitz

Looking for the big play is messing things up
BB loves to go deep. That’s all fine and good.
BUT DINK AND DUNK IF YOU HAVE TO!!!
Jeez.
Most of the time BB has the 2 seconds to make a throw.
The holding calls
are absurd. What was the discrepancy that someone posted on here. We’ve have a solid three to four a game and no one commits one against us?
lopsided O line
So,
If they put all their line up on harrison, then move harrison AWAY from that set up.
Is that hard?
It seems that smith
is the one coming hard

are punters allowed to do that? maybe we should try that

i dunno
This game doesnt remind me of the Giants game that much.

Power
I’m thinking we should do a sudden shift to our old power running game, bring Davis in and let him lead block and let willie and moore do their thing
He was supposed to be break out
he’s been very disappointing on the field and off
by SteelerBuddha on Dec 14, 2008 6:18 PM EST up reply actions
man
Foot and Farrior are just BANGING heads since that 3 carry 20 yard sequence late in the second half on the ground for McClain
ok
Way to hang tough guys. Come on Santonio! We’re going to need him to make a play. Time to settle down.
True
He really has been blowing it though – he misses the fair catch – sinks in the hole and then kills us with the weak fumble….not impressive – he really needs to turn it around
by SteelerBuddha on Dec 14, 2008 6:20 PM EST up reply actions
could tell
that he was playing too fast. he’s been getting caught up in yapping with the thugs. Not playing his game. Needs to settle the fuck down and do his job.
by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 6:21 PM EST up reply actions
Neither offense is good enough
To make a legitimate run.
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver
That's true
I won’t speak for Pittsburgh, but Flacco is still one year away.

obvious that he was playing too fast. he’s been getting caught up in yapping with the thugs. Not playing his game. Needs to settle the fuck down and do his job.
there we go
I’ll never give up on Holmes. He’s too talented. He’s not done yet today

PLAYOFF?
who is ahead in the division if pitt loses?
Pitt

Fabian Washington was a great pick up

Is hoping for
the unlikely situation where our offense steps up and buries them like we did he bengals in our first meeting
by Wichita SunSteeler on Dec 14, 2008 6:28 PM EST reply actions
Ploy
Myabe this is just all a ploy by the steelers, play crappy offense in the season and be a offensive juggernaut in the playoffs….just maybe…
Never defeated
….a whole quarter to go, down by 6.
OMGBBQ!!! that was amazing!!
and terrible….
eeeshhh
seriously
times for Holmes to take a seat. or someone sit him down and have a talk.
like bergers punt last week that hit the upman
We are so bad, we are good.
Better then
having him back as a sitting duck
much better
Keeps guys from going all out on him

i need hines to lay someone out,
btw what has been up with hines, he seems to be dropping alot of passes this year
If you pull that all day
It’s bound to catch up to you.

I can't speak for you guys
But our offense is not good enough to make a run. Joe and co. are a year away.

the game is not that entertaining offensively
by purpleonblack86 on Dec 14, 2008 6:40 PM EST reply actions
Ok
I have to go watch this at the gym – feel the blood rising – our offense is really beyond all reproach. I take back everything nice I said about Arians – that was ridiculous
OK
I can’t watch our offense anymore – I know they will pull it out most of the time, but really they are so ugly they should put a bag over their head when they play.
YES SIR
LETS GO!
REmember, in the first half, we had a bunch of drops. Offense sucked second half, but Ben was spot on to start.
Ward
where has he been today hiding from suggs?
by Wichita SunSteeler on Dec 14, 2008 6:45 PM EST reply actions
you know what he's going to call...
a double reverse flea flicker to a tackle eligible for a loss and a holding penalty
although i must say
It hasnt been his worst day.
by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 6:48 PM EST up reply actions
ward
he drops some, but makes so many that should be dropped.
yeah an no more misses the rest of year
(including playoffs)
Why run the spread like that
You know there goign to blitiz everyone and we have trouble picking it up
if simms likes it
Its the wrong thing to run
by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 6:54 PM EST up reply actions
wow!
Bailey Rookie of the YEar just for that hit!
hehe
no definitely not. And its not like we have a dynamite kick returner. But if we had gotten pinned, that would have been tough.
by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 7:02 PM EST up reply actions
regardless of the outcome
I still like this team a lot. It wasnt a given that wed be able to bang with them in their house and have a shot to win. We’ve gotten dusted in this situation in previous years.
Hey
If you can drive the field and score a touchdown then you’re the better team.

yeah BB looked confused
thought something real bad was about to happen!
Lawrence Timmons baby
Simms is too asinine to realize that all that attention Harrisons getting has freed up Timmons to be a disrupter
Short slants
Impossible to defend.

Nice Cushion B-more
But sometimes, Nate Washington catches the ball.

Who are we going to play?
In the AFC, that is going to beat us? Indy is our only AFC loss so far. I think we all remember what happened last time Indy beat us in the regular season and met us in the postseason.
We have to wait and see who we are going to play
We are likely going to have a bye or homefield throughout now.
honestly, Winners just get more lucky than losers it comes down to that fact and that fact only

For the last two weeks, I’ve needed to have a beer just to stay calm. After each game, I am weak in the knees, and completely drained.
Ben is a 4th quarter hero.
Wow what a game.
Awesome final drive, overcome a short field on D. Don’t know what else I could ask for
make that 14 games Dfense keep offense under 300 yards

Your defense is sick
so is Baltimore’s, but they don’t have enough O. I said after the Giants beat you guys that I felt like if we made it to the SB we’d be facing you again, and nothing I’ve seen since then has changed my mind. Tennessee is wildly overrated.
"Tennessee is wildly overrated."
Agreed. Look at how soft their schedule is. Compare it to ours.
They lost to the Jets and the Texans. The Steelers lost to the Giants, the Eagles, and the Colts.
THREAD CLOSED
Celeberation thread is open. Lets take it there.
I’m heading up to LA for the evening, back later with a recap and analysis. But head to new thread. Thanks.
congrats steelers nation
i think somehow everyone of us knew today no matter what, we were going to win.
i know blitz has commented on the up and down and generally negativity of emotions in the gameday threads. but i think its been due to the fact that this unusual season has been a roller coaster for fans. im not seeing that anymore. we just had to get used to how the steelers are going to win games this year. everyone has faith now. everyone is excited. everyone knows no matter what, we are gonna win.
next up, titans and the battle for number one seed!!
