Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens - 2nd Half Open Thread

Quite an impressive drive by Baltimore to close the half. This is two good teams going at it. Pittsburgh ball at about the 10 minute mark of the 3rd.

Let's go Pittsburgh. AFC North title in sight.

oh man

?!? the zebras are back – so its to tackle silverback when he’s in your backfield about to sack you- but if Ray Lewis slips going for the tackle then its a hold.

by SteelerBuddha on Dec 14, 2008 6:06 PM EST reply actions

indeed

we’re playing against more than 11 on the field right now

by Alba on Dec 14, 2008 6:07 PM EST up reply actions

WOW!

that rugby flashback was nuts!!!!

jesus

it’s getting violent out there

by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 6:06 PM EST reply actions

Helmets

I always notice during games against other teams with black helmets that their helmets are really shiney and ours look like crap, a dull sheen at best…

by marcas13 on Dec 14, 2008 6:07 PM EST reply actions

Line

We need a new freaking o-line this is getting insane

by marcas13 on Dec 14, 2008 6:07 PM EST reply actions

We can’t even run, our line is sub average at best…maybe it’s the line coach

by marcas13 on Dec 14, 2008 6:09 PM EST up reply actions

That should be our first draft pick next year, o lineman, the draft is going to be deep with them so why not.

WOW

timmons came in like a laser

by acrollet on Dec 14, 2008 6:08 PM EST reply actions

bad joke

That reedfense joke was painful

by Wichita SunSteeler on Dec 14, 2008 6:08 PM EST reply actions

I thought he was Silverback

Where does the nickname Deebo come from?

by TURFgeek on Dec 14, 2008 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

Thanks

I need a program just to keep up with the nicknames. I had just gotten used to Dookie and then he was gone.

by TURFgeek on Dec 14, 2008 6:15 PM EST up reply actions

thats wasnt on our line

that was on mewelde moore. he whiffed his assignment. Not on our line.

by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 6:10 PM EST reply actions

So that has happened all year long I guess, and yeah i know there have been a bunch were ben has held on to long, but that first sack by lewis is a prime example of the miscues

by marcas13 on Dec 14, 2008 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

we know the lines not great

Thats not a news flash. But everytime a sack happens, dont need to just throw up ones hands and say the line sucks.

by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

+10

He was standing behind the linemen trying to prop him up – didn’t anticipate the delayed blitz

by SteelerBuddha on Dec 14, 2008 6:11 PM EST up reply actions

Looking for the big play is messing things up

BB loves to go deep. That’s all fine and good.

BUT DINK AND DUNK IF YOU HAVE TO!!!

Jeez.

Most of the time BB has the 2 seconds to make a throw.

by Ragnar808 on Dec 14, 2008 6:10 PM EST reply actions

The holding calls

are absurd. What was the discrepancy that someone posted on here. We’ve have a solid three to four a game and no one commits one against us?

by SteelerBuddha on Dec 14, 2008 6:10 PM EST reply actions

damn

Farrior just throwing is head in there. Violent violent game right now.

by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 6:11 PM EST reply actions

OK big stand

We can’t really afford to give them ANYTHING

by SteelerBuddha on Dec 14, 2008 6:12 PM EST reply actions

lopsided O line

So,

If they put all their line up on harrison, then move harrison AWAY from that set up.

Is that hard?

by Ragnar808 on Dec 14, 2008 6:12 PM EST reply actions

True

But Harrison is the one they worry about….flip ’em after the O sets up and see what happens.

Would be interesting to see…..

by marcas13 on Dec 14, 2008 6:20 PM EST up reply actions

ok

Way to hang tough guys. Come on Santonio! We’re going to need him to make a play. Time to settle down.

by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 6:19 PM EST reply actions

True

He really has been blowing it though – he misses the fair catch – sinks in the hole and then kills us with the weak fumble….not impressive – he really needs to turn it around

by SteelerBuddha on Dec 14, 2008 6:20 PM EST up reply actions

could tell

that he was playing too fast. he’s been getting caught up in yapping with the thugs. Not playing his game. Needs to settle the fuck down and do his job.

Neither offense is good enough

To make a legitimate run.

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

Did you think that ball broke the plane

With possession?

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

Great drive at the end there

The slant is impossible to defend.

Back to reality: Pittsburgh > Baltimore…

This was another fun game to watch…

These games are so unreal

At times I can’t believe we won them. But we did. Amazing.

by Alba on Dec 14, 2008 7:28 PM EST reply actions

Yeah

You’re destined to run out of luck in the first round.

Not if the Gods are with us, as you said

the gods help those….

by Jonny B. on Dec 14, 2008 7:32 PM EST up reply actions

Who are we going to play?

In the AFC, that is going to beat us? Indy is our only AFC loss so far. I think we all remember what happened last time Indy beat us in the regular season and met us in the postseason.

by PaulMorel on Dec 14, 2008 7:31 PM EST up reply actions

We have to wait and see who we are going to play

We are likely going to have a bye or homefield throughout now.

by Jonny B. on Dec 14, 2008 7:34 PM EST up reply actions

yeah really,

How did we just do that????

by Jonny B. on Dec 14, 2008 7:29 PM EST up reply actions

I'm with you.

For the last two weeks, I’ve needed to have a beer just to stay calm. After each game, I am weak in the knees, and completely drained.

Ben is a 4th quarter hero.

Like I said

Not pretty, but it’s destiny.

by Jonny B. on Dec 14, 2008 7:28 PM EST reply actions

Wow what a game.

Awesome final drive, overcome a short field on D. Don’t know what else I could ask for

by bbbbrian on Dec 14, 2008 7:28 PM EST reply actions

Now we get to watch Dallas meltdown!

Let's Go!

by jacksteel on Dec 14, 2008 7:30 PM EST reply actions

Your defense is sick

so is Baltimore’s, but they don’t have enough O. I said after the Giants beat you guys that I felt like if we made it to the SB we’d be facing you again, and nothing I’ve seen since then has changed my mind. Tennessee is wildly overrated.

by cjmulrain on Dec 14, 2008 7:32 PM EST reply actions

"Tennessee is wildly overrated."

Agreed. Look at how soft their schedule is. Compare it to ours.

They lost to the Jets and the Texans. The Steelers lost to the Giants, the Eagles, and the Colts.

THREAD CLOSED

Celeberation thread is open. Lets take it there.

I’m heading up to LA for the evening, back later with a recap and analysis. But head to new thread. Thanks.

by Michael Bean on Dec 14, 2008 7:33 PM EST reply actions

congrats steelers nation

i think somehow everyone of us knew today no matter what, we were going to win.
i know blitz has commented on the up and down and generally negativity of emotions in the gameday threads. but i think its been due to the fact that this unusual season has been a roller coaster for fans. im not seeing that anymore. we just had to get used to how the steelers are going to win games this year. everyone has faith now. everyone is excited. everyone knows no matter what, we are gonna win.

next up, titans and the battle for number one seed!!
