what else needs to be said??
This team has been grinding out wins week after week. Another gutty performance against a team that was on fire. This defense, oh man. If only we had an offense to match.

A few quick hitters...
….The only team that can now beat us on the road is Tennessee, and they would have to do it twice. Good luck with that….
…I am still in shock that we won those two reviews. Be honest, if the exact scenario went against us, we would not be happy…
…In the last 10 Steelers games, the team that scored first LOST eight times, and nine times out of 12… That’s quirky…
…Whatever urgency our offense feels at the end of games, we need to pick that up a notch before crisis management…
…If I were the Steelers video guy, I would Fed Ex 100 plays of James Harrison getting hugged and holding not being called, to Mike Perreira and demand a response…
…I am more convinced now that our O-Line is not getting physically beat nearly as much as they are getting mentally and schematically beat…
…I am still not ready to crown this defense the best ever with the Steelers, remembering the 1976 season, but I will delare them the most consistently great defense in franchise history…
…That spike on the four-yard line was horrible. No need for that. Plenty of time and a wasted down. It will not be talked about since we won, but had the TD not been allowed and we never got a chance to punch it in from the two-inch line before a field goal, I’d be pretty upset right now…
…Tomlin had at least four monkeys on his back last year despite an impressive 10-6 rookie mark. He got popped twice by Jax, got embarrassed by the Patriots, could not tackle on special teams and could not reverse the string of losses in Baltimore. This year he has returned the favor on the road in Jax, embarrassed the Patriots, is tackling very well on boots and won in Baltimore, an incredibly tough place to win. Four huge monkeys, perhaps gorillas, now reversed…
…On to Jack Daniels country where the journey continues…

Actually the first down wasn't a reversal...
but shocked me that it wasn’t.

yeah
those calls were iffy. Once again, crappy officiating in an NFL game with refs not knowing or understanding all the rules. And like you said rose, it is shocking the amount of times that Harrison is held. One comes to mind where he is coming off the left side and the lineman has his arm up under Harrison’s armpit and wrapped around his chest, with the official standing on the opposite side staring right at the pair.

Good thoughts
As usual Rose.
I agree that Tomlin has coached up the Steelers pretty well to bring good intensity to all games. I think you have to also give him props for winning games they should this year. That’s one other monkey hanging off his back.
I really thought Ben was going to do the old fake spike routine there, cause I couldn’t see any reason why they would do it. I agree, bad call in that situation. Didn’t we even have 1 more timeout?
And I thought both booth reviews could have gone the other way. Poor officiating all around. Someone needs to explain how it’s holding when Ray Lewis gets touched, and not when Harrison is bear held by 1-2 linemen.
The schematics on the line are improving for pass pro. On the Ray Lewis sack Stapleton missed the blitz, but otherwise it looked okay. But on the run, I don’t see this team getting push. Don’t know what’s missing but we can’t move the line of scrimmage.
All that being said. Good game and man am I glad the only way we see the Ravens again would be in our house.

Beautfiul
We really have kicked some buttock this year. Our total points of losses, 20 I believe. 3 games, two of which were super close.
We now control our own destiny. Simply winning out will give us the top seed. A beautiful thing.
To all the doubters, our Offense is clearly the best in the NFL when it needs to be lol. How many QB’s and teams can march down the field 92 yards for that game winning score in crunch time? Ben is a winner.

Where's beerman
not to stir up old trouble but It’s kinda suprising that all the Ben hate has left the building. Ben might not Always win, but man he’s a winner in my book.

Congrats guys
Well played game. You had one hell of a drive at the end and I can say now that I think you are the best team in the NFL. You have hands down shut everyone up in this league and beaten some of the NFL poster boys by true Steeler Fashion. Good job on winning the AFC North and I hope to see you guys in the play offs.
But were things like these really necessary to be said over at our Ravens blog?
HEY
Just wanted to send you all a big FUCK YOU…..from Pitt……..with love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

has done nothing all year except not lose the game and i knew if it was close, he was not oging to win the game for yall! way to lose tonight! I knew you had it in you!!
The STEELERS OWN the AFC North!
Thanks Steelguy99 for coming over and being a mature fan. You apologized for the immaturity of many of your Blog Members. Again, good job, great game to watch. See you in the Playoffs I hope.

No they didn't
But there’s always some idiot with a keyboard and an internet connection. Our apologies for the ingracious fans.
And here’s to hoping we don’t see your team in the playoffs. Probably next to the Eagles the ravens scare me the most.

I second that. Eat crow where deserved! Sorry if you can’t handle an F bomb!! Idiot with a keyboard? I think not Chi Town!

Well
Lemme say, the middle two are just about accurate.
4th was pretty decent. No profanity. A few spelling errors. We apologize.
First one was out of had. But hey, a Steeler win automatically triples the amount of Alcohol in the Iron being consumed. Its a very unique chemical reaction.
Its a tough rivalry, I give you guys credit the game lived up to the hype. But I’m sure we’d had an F’ U or two here if we lost.

Not cool
Those are just idiots who need football to validate their insignificant lives. I’d have Rexx delete stuff like that. It serves no purpose.
I don’t think I’d bother watching the Steelers if it weren’t for opponents like the Ravens. You’ve got a club you can take pride in. I am torn on whether I want to meet you guys post season. On the one hand, you’ve earned your slot. On the other, there’s no one else in the AFC with a better shot at beating us.

Well, I predicted we'd go 11-5 at the beginning of the year
I thought that might have been generous….
But here we are at 11-3 with the two games to go (one of them should be easy too).
Its a nice feeling right now.
by shleeve on Dec 15, 2008 12:35 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, schedule was almost every bit as hard as anticipated.
Sure some games were easier—Cleveland, Jacksonville, San Diego, but some were every bit as hard or harder than expected —Baltimore twice and next week against Tennessee.
by Jonny B. on Dec 15, 2008 11:36 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
the second is correct?
Flacco is shit? Dude, he has done nothing all year except qb a previosly mediocre ravens offense into position to get to the playoffs in his rookie year. Did he have a bad game against us? Sure. Big deal, just about every qb this year has had a bad game against us. Flacco is going to go far in this league, and I for one wish he were on a different team.
Sorry for the lame remarks MaLoR. Believe me, only the Patsies are above my hatred of the Ravens, I truly hate your team. But it never ceases to crack me up when fans talk trash like its them out on the field. Anyway, props to the Ravens for a hard fought game. Thank the Lord we won though :)

oh...
and how awesome was it that we made it through that game with 0 injuries???
by steelerark on Dec 15, 2008 12:41 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Yes!
I wanted to say something earlier. I thouhght there would be a caravan of meat wagons carrying out players to nearby hospitals after this matchup. We all know how Ray Ray likes to hurt players. But, we came out pretty unscathed. A huge bonus for an already top notch prize. 2 more weeks and we need all the kevlar we can get.

Timmons completely destroyed him.

Special Teams
The hit by Bailey on the kick return wasn’t bad either. It merited anolher review.

23 Quarters
and counting. No opponents have been flagged for holding the Steelers. Not since the first quarter of the Indy game. That my friends is a travesty.

I am loving this season so far
I hate the Cowboys, Pats, Ravens, Browns, in that order, and we beat them all this year. The best part about beating the Cowboys and Ravens is the fact that they had the game in hand only to have it ripped away from them in last minute heroics. A super bowl would just top this season off.
It scares me to think about how good this team could be with maybe two upgrades on our O line. Something to look forward to next year. I think 13 points on that Ravens defense really is`t all that bad. My prediction was actually 9-6 Ravens in this game. So close! That damn Ben Roethlisberger had to get all hero on me. Great game.

I gotta give it to you guys...
With the Titans and Giants both losing today, I think Pitt is the best team in football. AND THIS IS FROM A RAVENS FAN!
Hardest schedule in the league, not that many “Big Name” players on the offense, murderous defense, and you guys are at 11-3.
I can see why most of you hated the way your offense was playing the past weeks, but man, does Big Ben give it to you guys when you need it.
For not scoring a lot of points, I think we got the game we wanted, victory or not for the Ravens, crazy and fun game to watch.
I did not even expect the Ravens to be at the point they are. Sure, I knew our defense would show up MOST of the season, but I did not have faith in the young and inexperienced offense and coaching staff we had. Even with 5 losses, I am still proud of my team that we could hang in there with such a dominant team like the Steelers. This is why we are all addicted to this sport. We do not know what is truly going to happen on game day. Anything can happen!
P.S. As small of a fan base and bloggers we have at our Ravens blog, I can surely tell you that IF Ravens would have won, you would not have seen some of the comments posted by you guys on your site. Go ahead and say im crying, but you would be all glassy eyed if you guys lost int he fashion that we did.
Again, congrats on the division, congrats and proving everyone wrong in the NFL. I hope we can meet again at Heinz field for a third rematch!
Can you please stop with the harassment on Ravens fans. We ate our words, you are the better team. What true fan wouldnt talk a little smack before one of the biggest games in both of the franchises history? Its always been a huge rivalry for both of us. You should be thankful that you guys have a team that will test your guys to the limits. That is what makes football fun and makes others better, playing against some of the best competition you could find. And you guys got that competition TWICE this year and prevailed at the last minute both times.
It is a 60 minute ball game, that is damn sure. You were the team that played the whole 60 minutes. Congratulations again, enjoy your title, and get ready for what good be another crazyyyy post season

ive got a few comments on this coming in my post
that im working on now.
devastating loss for yall. The negative comments there I guarantee u were not made for the most part by regulars here. Y’all have been very chill and fun. And the trash talk has been tasty but in control. So anyway, keep coming by to talk.

Not so tasty....
If you read one of the comments i put before this, there were some terrible things said. A lot that were untrue saying that our QB is worthless.

since he is anything but worthless.

True
I was hoping he’d be in way over his head, but he’s been right up there with about any rookie QB in NFL history. Certainly, top 10-20 rookie season for a QB. Big surprise for guy coming out of Delaware.
