my game notes
First, how fun was it seeing Coach LeBeau send the house on a couple plays last night? It's just plain cool watching and wondering who's going to rush and who's going to drop back into coverage and HOLY CRAP THEY'RE ALL COMING FOR YOU JOE!!!
I said it in the game thread comments, but whether or not you think the ball broke the goal line plane on that pass to Santonio shouldn't affect which team you think should have won that game - All the ravens had to do was play good coverage on Holmes with two defenders right in the area to make the "controversy" go away... Not to mention that we still had another down to play with...
From the PG:
The Steelers were 8 for 17 on third down, a 47 percent conversion rate, against a Ravens defense that was permitting only 29.5 percent on third down.
We've been complaining about the offense, but they've been finding ways to win against guys who aren't exactly scrubs - NE may be fading on the D side of the ball, but they're still very hard to play, and look at the way the Cowgirls crushed New York last night - 8 sacks on the Giants makes me feel pretty good about the way our line played against Ware & co... Pity to see Ware get all those sacks - probably hurts James Harrison's chances at DPOY pretty badly.
Smart, smart play by "big play" Gay kneeling down at the end of the game last night - Anyone else think that Farrior was yelling at him to do just that? :)
Mike Tomlin keeps making the Rooneys look smarter and smarter... Hopefully he's here for at least as long as the Chin...
A lot of people are saying they don't want to see the Ravens again in the playoffs - I hope we do and Spikey or Berger somehow get a chance to even the score with Frank Walker.... This team's for real, and I'm not scared of anyone in the playoffs - nothing's guaranteed, but we have the personnel and, more importantly, the heart to have a good chance in every game.
Ok, morning break's over - back to work for me, hope everyone's enjoying yesterday's win as much as I am!

Good call
I was yelling at Gay to kneel so I didn’t notice Farrior was near Gay after the INT. I’m sure Farrior would’ve tackled Gay before he let him run into a crowd of Ravens.

yeah that was gay
He did a good job there. That ball COULD have been caught, there were people there.
I like the kneel down, although I just would have preferred a out of bounds jog.
Lebeau should be coach of the year
The defense has carried the offense on their backs most of the year, much like the Ravens team of 2000. In that respect, Lebeau has carried Tomlin and Arians on his back this year. Right now I think Big Ben is the team MVP. During this tough stretch of the schedule he has helped Lebeau shoulder the load of Tomlin and Arians. His #1 receiver has under performed and the line has not done a very good job of protecting him. Add to that the fact that we have a woeful, unsteeler-like running game and Big Ben’s season is pretty remarkable. In defense of Willie Parker’s comments last week, I didn’t take his comments as him being selfish or complaining about his number of carries. He simply was stating that he is more effective running behind a fullback, particularly one who can open holes like Dan Kreider. This year in Minnesota Adrian Peterson has complained in the media that he doesn’t like running behind a fullback. He is more effective in a one back set. Personally, I don’t think Matt Spaeth is a great blocker and he certainly isn’t used enough as a receiver, so why not use a big bruising fullback who likes to block and doesn’t expect to carry the ball? Willie has shown how effective he can be and at the risk of piling on, I can only blame Arians for changing the offense to the point that our running game is feeble. I am happy we continue to win and I think our defense is actually good enough to take us to the Super Bowl, but wouldn’t it be great to see our offense play to it’s potential as well? If that was the case, we would be more dominant than the Patriots of the past decade.
