No need for panic, folks

The steelers had absolutely no need to win this game - it would have been nice for bragging rights, but I really think they still have their eyes on the real prize. Do you really think that Dick LeBeau and Mike Tomlin are going to let them get distracted and lose focus on the real goal?

The groups we have this year always seems to play better with a chip on their shoulder - wether it's against "America's team" and the media hosanna chorus, a very tough Ravens team at home, or the hated Patriots*, again in their house. If you tracked Big Ben's IQ each week according to the comments here, it would seem to just fine 11 times this year, and plunge to levels usually reserved for the temperature in outer space when we lose. Trust me on this - he's plenty smart. Brett Farve throws a lot more picks than him, and you don't hear about people questioning his intelligence. (Well, maybe some Jets fans, but who really cares about them ;) )

Back to today's game - you know that we were going to play them extra vanilla today, because we stand every chance of seeing them again in the playoffs, and we're going to come ready to win that contest. I honestly think that this was a great outcome for us - take off some of the media pressure, let the Titans get complacent, and put some fire in our players' bellies. (The terrible towel incident was great from that standpoint.)

It hurt from a numbers/pride standpoint to see our D play a merely "very good" game, but they are always a fun unit to watch. Loved the deep pass to Santonio Holmes - he showed super effort on that play.

I was just as dissapointed as anyone at the end result, but the more I think about it, the less I'm worried. Call me a homer, call me what you want - but I'm feeling good about this team in the playoffs. We could still go one and done in the playoffs, but even if we do, I gaurantee you it will be a tough, hard-fought game, and not look a thing like this one...
