Those boys blogging the boys...
Seem to be getting a little irritated with this weeks matchup. I just went over there and it doesn't seem there to be educated responses in their blogs. More or less of how the Steelers are over rated and suck. Blah Blah Blah. It's going to be a hard loss for them to swallow come sunday. I have been waiting for this matchup for a LONG time. I hope God opens up the skys and it starts raining cats and Lombardi trophies :) Thier only hope is a player named Romo. Who they think is next to godliness. We all love Deebo, but would never think of him as highly as those cowgirl fans do.
It's time for some terrible weather

I was over there reading as well....
What most of the people there don’t seem to realize, is that the Steelers as a team are exponentially better than they were a month ago. They keep bringing up stats from games that we lost long ago. It seems little attention is being paid to current stats and how we are playing NOW!!! Hopefully the team is ignoring that as well. Somehow I doubt it. At any rate, I welcome the Cryboys in our house, in well below freezing tempretures and snow! Might be a little change from their climate controlled dome, LOL! They will need all the luck they can get! Hopefully womo won’t huwrt his wittle pinky again.

If anyone can not motivate a team to play it would be Wade Phillips. Or norv turner.

yeah they look at the stat that BB has been sacked like 33 times but they fail to realize that he has only been sacked 5 times in the last 3 games and only once in the last 2. Our O-line has improved and will face another test Sunday.

WHAT!?
how on god’s green earth is our schedule improved? Please tell me. Sorry we didn’t get to play the Rams or the Cards. We would have crushed them either way. I know that we’re supposed to keep this site in good taste. But have you been reading the Cowboy fan posts on NFL.com? Man, it’s as far from the truth as you can get.

NE, SD, and CIN
not exactly beasts there.. NE and SD are tied at 18th for sacks (behind Detroit I might add) and CIN is at 31. He said last 3 games and that’s what I’m going off of. To me, NE is the best team of the last 3 you faced, and they don’t scare me a bit without Brady. So if you consider those tough teams, you’re in for quite a treat Sunday.
by sublimezg on Dec 4, 2008 5:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Not tough
just road bumps. Tough was going to Washington, beating baltimore, and holding the best rushing team in the NFC to a measly 83 yrds. I’ll bet the cowgirls consider the “tough” loss to the rams.

Not to mention a passing attack that went for 400 yards twice in a row. I wonder if Sublime caught that one.

both teams are below average in pass defense. Your team is good, I have respect for them, but please stop using bad teams as a way to boast your own.

You can only beat who they put on the field
and the Steelers did. What more do the Dallas people want. Should we hold them to negative yards while throwing for 1000 yards?

matchups?
in that case who impressive have yall beaten? Barely beat Washington and recently you guys have played a 4-8 49ers team and a 2-10 Seahawks team. Last time i checked SD is a good team, they just haven’t been able to finish losing by like less than a touchdown in most of their games.
NE still has the chance to win their division also, so how are they not good?? They are about on the same level as the cryboys except second in their division and their starting QB has been hurt the whole season instead of 3 games.

Well I'm a boys fan and I say...
I don’t know what you have been reading, but I haven’t found the under estimating the Steelers is a on going theme. Most of what I have read shows great respect for who the steelers are. We are not kidding ourselves by thinking you guys will be a push over: To the contrary we view this game as the toughest we will have had to date ( Giants game is excluded, because without Romo no one really saw that as win able.).
We will be a definate underdog, playing at your home, against the leagues best defense (no mistake there you guys are for real), noisy fan who love to hate the boys, and Nasty Cold Weather and the NFL’ worst field that you guys are use to playing on ( use to be Eagles had the worst field).
So, this is what most Cowboys fans know about the up coming game. Now on the other side we also see our defense as somewhat improved ( how much no one can say since the competition in the last 3 games since Romo’s return have been, well petty frigging bad); Also as mentioned Romo has returned and that is always good. Now, I’m a believer that Good defense always usually beats good offense, but in this game I think we have a chance because: We have to win; Also, if the Dallas defence can hold the Steelers offense the way the Steelers will put the breaks on the Dallas offense then it boils down to either Romo making a big mistake or a big play, both are possible. Also, If, If our O-line can put together solid preformance then I think we win comfortably, however, i do not foresee that with the you guys on the other side of the ball.
Anyway, we are the underdog for good reason, but if our offensive and defensive lines play well we have a good chance and it should be a great game (hopefully no injuries).

you're way off base Cali boy
I’m a regular at BTB and the biggest self proclaimed Cowboys fan on the planet and reside in western Pa, right in the middle of Steelers Country and I never said one bad thing about the Steelers at all.
Well, I’ve said their OL sucks, but only because it does, if you guys actually had a good OL you’d have no problem waltzing into the SB.
Your defense is to be highly respected and if Ben gets time he can hurt you. So Cowboys fans aren’t disrespecting the Steelers, they’re just analyzing ways how we can score on your great defense and try to shut down your offense.
Fact is, you guys have an advantage with the weather, but in all other respects, both teams are very evenly matched and it could be the game of the year.
Bottom line, though, is that the Cowboys need this win more than the Steelers to get into the playoffs, and usually the team that wants it more, usually wins.
I’ll be attending the game proudly wearing my Cowboys gear and I expect a tremendous game, despite the fact that I’ll probably freeze my ass off.

Um, last I checked we have a pesky poser Baltimore team right behind us. A team that we will beat next week, but for now we have to beat your people.
I quote you sir: “Bottom line, though, is that the Cowboys need this win more than the Steelers to get into the playoffs, and usually the team that wants it more, usually wins.”
You said the Cowboys NEED it more. And then you say the team that WANTS it more. Let me tell you, this team WANTS wins bad. So bad. At home, in front of the fans, who’ve been disappointed twice already. With playoff berthage on the line.
You guys saw what happened to the pats. Thats going to be you. Goodell was nice enough to unlock the shackles on your resident criminal, but it wont matter. Enjoy the taste of home grown grass and mud. You’ll be buried in it.

LOL! I don't think so bud
I think Romo is like 1,000 times better than Cassell, he was like a rookie with the deer in the head lights look, Romo won’t be as jittery. You don’t get to him, he’ll slice your defense to pieces.
Bottom line is if the Cowboys lose, they’re pretty much done. If the Steelers lose, they still easily make the playoffs, therefore, yes, the Cowboys need and will want it more than your Stillers.
And I hate the Stillers and they stank worse!

Tony Homo
Is clearly not an elite quarterback. Easily distracted, gets the jitters, cant perform in big games.
How many playoff games has tony romo won exactly? Oh thats right, 0.
Let me tell you something, Romo has NEVER played the steel curtain. He’s never had to hear the breath of a behemoth coming towards him. Let alone two monsters. Hes never had to try to find his receiver behind a wild mane of powerful hair. He is going to be terrified. All quarterbacks are. They all revert to schoolgirls against our D, and since Homo is already close to it I expect a full breakdown.

A dismantling of a franchinse quarterback in one game you say?
Wouldn’t it be awesome. Romo winds up in a mental hospital because he keeps having nightmares of a freakishly fast and mean silverback gorilla trying to kill him.
by SoCalSteelerFan on Dec 4, 2008 6:06 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
You did it again Mechem
You’ve made me think of another analogy: playing the Steelers D is like venturing into the Heart of Darkness/Apocalypse Now (either the book version or movie version will do). Think of Dick LeBeau as a crazy Marlon Brando concocting wild schemes and zone blitzes that scare the living daylights out of decent, civilized people (read: celebrity QBs and pampered receivers). The powers that be (NFL officials dishing out fines) are scared of this man and the minions at his disposal. He could ruin their entire way of life (“pansy” football with AFL type scoring). He also has an army of savages at his disposal with no regard for the rules or feelings of outsiders (Polamalu, Smith, Harrison, Woodley, Hampton, Clark).
Tony Homo might come out of the Heart of Darkness alive, but he may never be quite the same (maybe some missing teeth, the Crazy Eyes, or a mental breakdown a la SoCalSteelerFan). When I think of it this way, I almost feel bad for the guy. Almost.
by CarlWeathersMustache on Dec 5, 2008 10:22 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Please note: a defense that puts up historic numbers can only do so by relying on factors beyond just pure talent. Dick LeBeau is not the type of guy who’s going to pigeonhole our defensive strategy into any one direction. Romo’s might have success at times, but he’s going to have to think on his feet pretty quickly to keep up with our D’s adjustments.

disagree
i really disagree with you Terry, you have to have been looking at the comments they were making. I was debating with a few cowboys fans and most of whom i was debating with all deeply underestimated our offense and defense. Claiming that Tony will pick apart our defense and have no trouble scoring. They also mentioned that all they need to do is man up ward with newman, jones on holmes and henry on miller and blitz the crap out of BB. I guess everything has a chance but we have more weapons than them and playing man to man on a holmes slant is near impossible to cover unless you know its coming.
Now they are some respectful and intelligent cowboy bloggers but do not pretend like they aren’t those ignorant rowdy ones too. Couple of them already trying to pick ‘fights’ over the internet, slandering our team, city, field, and fans.

manning
yeah we didn’t sack manning all that much only got 2 sacks but manning did not ‘slice’ the D up at all. In fact he was about 50% completion rating with Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Gonzalez, four hell of a weapons. Not to mention Manning is a better QB. All of thier points came off of short field except for 3. So our coverage is still nasty. Not to mention 7 of the points the colts scored and 64 yards and a TD manning had came on a fluke play.

Funny
The Steelers played pretty hard with an Atlanta Falcons reject, Byron Leftwich, at QB in the Skins game. They played so hard they made Lefty look like a Pro Bowler for one game instead of crying “woe is me” because of one injury. That’s the difference between the two teams and why Steelers have done better in December/January over the last decade then the Boys (also why they will continue to do better even if the Cowboys win on Sunday).
If you remember the Boys teams that excelled at the end of the year in the 90’s, those guys were team guys. Yeah, you had characters like Irvin and Sanders, but even they were not “me first” players. They had heart and desire, which this team lacks.

I think its funny that
i read on the Cowboys site that we have the refs in our back pocket, and that both of our lines get away with holding all the time. As many garbage calls and fines as we have gotten this year? Comon man! James Harrison gets held just about every play.

even in our SB year, we didn’t have the refs, if anything we didn’t catch many breaks in that year either. i clearly remember getting angry at some bad calls but we always played through them and won. A trend we are starting to pick up again this year (BAL, JAX, NE, SD)

refs
Yeah I dont think the refs are ever for pittsburgh.
I personally dont buy into crazy theories and I dont think the NFL is out to get us. But I just think due to our higher standard of physical play we are more likely to draw flags in this NFL.
But yeah on the way to the SB we had pretty much the worst INT call in the colts game, which could have cost us the season.

Refs hate defense
If anything, the refs are against the Steelers, but no more than any other defensive team like the Titans or Ravens. The NFL is not ashamed of the fact that they are trying to make the game higher scoring by making new penalties aimed at defenses. Not only that, but look at the penalties that the NFL claims it is serious about enforcing: QB hits, helmet to helmet, horse collars, defensive PI. All of these are aimed at defensive players. You never hear the NFL say they need to crack down on offensive holding or illegal men downfield (which I actually think is a big problem because refs are letting linemen get away with this very often in this era of the pass catching RB).

it amazes me that they hold Romo up as a God. No literally a God. Romo is like the perfect quarterback to them and can single-handly win any game for them. Jason Witten is apparentally unstoppable too.

Heres a guy Romo who is considered their jesus but fumbles the biggest snap of his life. A guy who was nobody a couple years ago and now is lauded as the holy chosen one.
This guy aint no aikman. He is soft and soft people lose in pittsburgh. You need large brass balls and a heart of steel to win there, and he has neither.

Dude, are you really gonna bring up the Seattle Snap
It was two years ago. And for my money, the biggest snap of his career was at the end of the Giants playoff game, when he threw a good pass, but Crayton stopped on his route, giving the game away. So to me, Romo came through on the biggest snap of his career, the team, however, didn’t.
Also, I don’t know about a God, but he is the highest rated passer in the NFL, so shouldn’t we expect him to make plays? I don’t think he’s going for 300 yards and 3 TD’s this week, but I do think he’ll be able to make a clutch play or two when we need it.

look
Nobody is denying him his skills. Just not giving him as much as credit as cowboy fans seem to think of him. He is not the best QB in the league. He is a great player but not good enough to single handley ‘pick apart’ the steelers D. thats insane. All his injury showed to me is how Bad Dallas is. Good teams can function without their starting QB (NE, PIT) because of depth, which Dallas has none.
Romo is about on Big Ben’s level except with a better O-Line and more respected wide recievers. Not going to say better because I think Hines is just as good as TO because he is more well rounded but i will say they have more big play weapons.

I think Romo is a solid QB. I think his receiving corps as a whole is great and can make lots of plays across the field.

I'll admit that the Cowboys offense is intimidating...
and that I have a lot of respect for MBIII, but I think that the Steeler defense is more intimidating than any offense in the league.
The biggest thing in this game is 1.Ben making the right decisions 2. The O-line doing a halfway-decent job and lastly 3. Sticking to a more run-oriented offense. If Arians can’t figure that out, I’m going to go to the Rooney’s and ask for the position myself.

Keep in mind that if Willie Parker is healthy
Dallas is in for a rough ride trying to stop Moore, Parker, Ward, Miller, Doobie (still don’t like him), and Washington.
As long as Ben plays SMART football and is a little more mobile like he has been in the past two weeks, the Steeler offense will have a productive day.
The defense definitely does need to put pressure and get sacks on Romo, which I’m not too too worried about, but it is a necessity.

Alright, it's getting ridiculous
Nation, what happened to “Thoughtful discussion with a sense of history,” and “Level-headed thinking”?
…I never thought I’d read this much about pajamas, or Dance Dance Revolution in my life.
Bottom line is this: Arguably the two most storied franchises in the history of the NFL face off on Sunday. They have collectively owned the 70’s, 90’s, and are doing pretty damn well in the new millenium as well. Faced each other 3 times in the Super Bowl, and have 10 rings and 13 appearances between them. I would guess 25+ Hall of Famers combined (including coaches), and probably the two most widespread, dedicated, and rabid fanbases in professional sports…certainly the NFL (with maybe the Pack as an exception).
THIS is what football is all about. And as fans, games like this should be what we look forward to the most. Both teams are at the top of their respective conferences, and both probably in the top 5 of the NFL. Pro Bowlers saturate both rosters, and with the history and animosity of both teams, the only safe prediction is that anything can happen on Sunday…especially with bitter rivals sitting right in front (Giants) and right behind (Ravens) us in the standings.
Roughly 60 hours til kickoff….let’s try to keep it a little more civil…a little more intelligent in here. Nothing wrong with intensity, passion and an opinion; but we’re correcting each other’s grammar…let’s focus on football.
Or at least focus on something that we all can hate……..the Raiders.

Damn raiders
I hate em and they stank….
This IS shaping up to be a very good football game. And honestly I aint seen this much brew to do on the forum all year. I’m happy and I love knowing that our team is going to boss up and do work and clean up shop.

Boooo!
It wouldn’t be football without the smack talk. When the game is over, win or lose. Is the time to act civil. Rubbing it in is what is uncivil about football. So, without the immature name calling (and yes I’ve done it too) we can talk a little smack. Might as well since many of us have had this date marked since last year.

i didn't say don't talk shit
i just said make it more focused, civil…meaning, leave the dance dance revolution talk for teams with nothing worth talking about (bengals) and talk real shit.

Fact based
These comments are not coming from nowhere. They are based on multiple national media reports of DJs, sponsors, pyjamas, and dancing at a Cowboys practice. Those Cowboys teams of the 70’s and 90’s were great and I don’t think any of us would think of deriding them. This Wade Phillips bunch brings it on themselves. I wouldn’t dream of poking fun at a team that practices hard all week in an attempt to lay it all on the field. This doesn’t seem to be the case in Big D. The Boys (at least Jones: I bet Barber doesn’t give a crap about dancing or sponsors because he is a gamer) want to be a media sideshow: it brings ratings, attention, and money.

I’m thinking the religion, politics, and the 09 draft.

Definitely the 09 draft
I betcha they are fighting over who gets the #1 pick.
Wouldnt it be hilarious if the lions went 0-15-1.
Its obvious Texas folk aint heard about DDR because their state is one of the most obesist in the country. Therefore a game that promotes movement would be out of the question

You really think the Lions have the talent to tie someone?

absolutely!
they could at least tie a team like SE Missouri St.
by NoCal-SteelCity on Dec 5, 2008 3:09 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
actually yeah
They do… Not necessarily the people they have on the sched though.
They’ve squandered 3 leads in a row. So they are capable of doing something.
It sucks living in detroit.

I will attest to that statement. More truth could not be spoken!

i just checked out the cowboys blog
here’s some actual commentary about facing the steelers defense:
"The Steelers have yet to face an offense as prolific as the Cowboys (I know the Giants rank No. 1 in the league, but Tony Romo trumps all), with as many weapons as the Cowboys have on their side of the ball. "
impressive. Tony Romo trumps all…as indicated by his postseason record.
