This is why Dallas doesn't win
It's one o'clock in the morning and I'm studying for law school finals. I take a break to read some sports news and I find this article that absolutely brightens my day/night/morning:
If you don't read the link, it says the Cowboys have taken off practice from their Thursday game to Wednesday. Then Wedneseday, players over 30 years of age were excused from practice. Barber and Ware did not practice because of injury and probably won't practice this week. The rest of the 'Boys practiced inside because it was too windy outside (and everyone knows there is never wind at Heinz Field in December). Also, the Cowboys pumped music into their practice to facilitate a Dance Dance Revolution themed practice. And to top it all off, PacMan came to practice in his pyjamas (I am not making any of this up).
It appears Wade Phillips thinks the way to gameplan for the number one defense in a hostile outdoor environment is to not practice, dance away the hours, stay indoors, and stay in your PJ's all day. Meanwhile, Big Ben and FWP are practicing through all sorts of injuries (mostly the type that occur from stepping in holes) and James Harrison is lifting cinder blocks in his sleep. And people act surprised when Romo and company falter at crunch time.
I was really worried about this game about an hour ago. After reading this article, I am still worried, but only because I can be absolutely sure there is no such thing as justice if the Steelers lose on Sunday to this bunch of clowns.

Lol
Classic. Allen Iverson would love Wade Phillips… “Practice?! We talking about Practice. Practice?!” LMAO. If I’m JJ, as much as he likes to get involved, I would put my billionaire foot up Phillips ass. Does this guy smoke meth? Seriously, how can they expect to waltz into heinz field by cruising through the work week. The training camp was notoriously soft too. There excuse then “attrition” lol so much for attrition. Boys never win the Big One with this clown holding the reins. NY would have Coughlin’s head on a platter if he pulled this shit while fighting for the playoffs facing the best D in the NFL in their house. LOL LOL LOL LOL….. I’m gunna ride my Boy fans/friends all day on this. Let’s see what lame excuse they use to act like it’s ok.

Maybe JJ will trade a few more first rounders for another coach. He won’t get rid of Phillips, he’ll just add another coach.

there is no good in the world
i read that article on nfl.com and that was sick. there will be no justice in this world if a mike tomlin coached team that is hungry and professional is beaten by this me first do nothing showboats coached by this imbecilic jackass!! i can still see it happening though. i can see the steelers thoroughly outplaying and physically beating dallas and the cowboys all but begging the game to end and then something disastrous happens. if there is good and there is justice in this world then the steelers will destroy the cowboys. but then again, i am never much one for optimism………..

Could be the right motivational tick for their team at this time.

He's not
running a kindergarten class. Its an NFL team, there’s no nap time. Everything I hear about WP tactics sound too rosy.

It means...
NOTHING if they win. WP will be hailed as a genius for resting the vets. If the lose, he’s gonna get tar and feathered. It’s all about the Ws.

This is GREAT!
We all saw how BB was playing when he was sitting out all week and playing come Sunday. He was out of synch with all our receivers, and in short, playing like a bag of turds. I’m not saying he’s at 100% now, but he looks leaps and bounds better than he did a month ago. It was a world of difference when he starting practicing on a regular again! Every team needs consistent practice, NFL level or not. I would think you would be gearing up to play the number 1 D so your offense was polished from the kickoff. I really think this works in our favor!!! I hope the weather is horrid out Sunday!

"James Harrison is lifting cinder blocks in his sleep."
actually, i think you mean BREAKING cinder blocks in his sleep
by NoCal-SteelCity on Dec 4, 2008 11:24 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
My mistake
I was envisioning Harrison doing bicep curls with cinder blocks. But you’re right: he probably just smashes them in his sleep and then wakes up in the morning and pours milk over the rubble and eats it for breakfast.
Seriously, every time I think about James Harrison when he is not on the field the only thing I can picture is the Clubber Lang workout montage from Rocky III where Clubber basically trains in an abandoned tenement. Of course, the Cowboys/Romo train more like Rocky at the beginning of that movie: DJs at practice, crazy outfits, kissing hot girls (Jessica Simpson), large crowds of boosters. I don’t think I need to remind you what happened to Rocky against Clubber Lang: KO. I think it was third round. Rocky looked like he had been hit by a freight train. And then Mickey died (I don’t think Wade Philips will die after this matchup though).

love it
It’s always interesting to see management styles. I appreciate giving vets some extra time off, but after 5 days off anyway? It’s not like there’s hitting in the drills.
I like what we have with Tomlin, he’s a good mix of a players coach and a hard ass.

resting vets
I’m pretty sure I read that Tomlin gave Hines Ward and another veteran (can’t recall) practice off. Does that make him soft or a “clown?”

If you think how one team practices
has anything to do with the outcome of the game, you’re totally clueless and way off base.
You want your practices to be productive, so you practice inside, even the Steelers have an inside practice facility. Yeah, having your qb slip in mud is real smart…NOT!
Cowboys have practiced this way over the past 2 years which has produced a 21-7 record, better than the Steelers over than time frame.

Keeps you fresh…fresh and soft. You guys will be great in the regular season. You may even beat the Steelers. But when you get to playoff football you will crumble. When was the Cowboys’ last playoff win? Game point.

This is a hard time for the Cowgirls to start winning games. Throw your 21-7 record out the window when Santa’s coming to town. Now your cowgirls have to leave their indoor practice stadium and travel to an even windier Heinz Field. Yes the Steelers have an indoor practice facilitly, but one that’s only used if the weather conditions are awful. And wind my friend isn’t that awful. So good work Wade! Keep em’ nice and soft for us on Sunday. We’ll bring the wind, the rain, the mud, the snow, and the Silverback!

got news for you Cali
the wind in Dallas today were just as strong as they will be Sunday at Heinz Field and yes, they practiced outside.
BTW, if the winds are too strong, yes that is awful and can be unproductive.

practice
yeah its ok to practice inside but not in a DDR theme in pajamas. Also I know steelers fans can recall that when Big Ben didn’t practice, he sucked. When willie didn’t practice before the bengals game, he sucked. So practicing does make a difference. Also maybe thats why Pittsburgh is so good in inclement weather, because they practice in it occasionally. We don’t go inside because it is too windy. LOL. What are you guys planning to bring a roof to Heinz Field?

Wade fatty Phillips
First of all, I dont believe you can have a coach thats larger than all of your players and be effective.
Andy Reid, no SB rings.
Romeo Crennel, No SB rings
Wade Phillips, no SB rings.
Fat coaches dont get respect from players.
Secondarily, I hate em and they Stank. Pansies

He gained weight in seattle, and he lost a SB with them. He wasnt bad though in GB.

yeah just like Big Ben
at least Hasselbeck thinks so, lol!
As part of the NFL’s "Play 60″ program aimed at encouraging kids to get off their overgrown rear ends and sweat out the Little Debbies to engage in at least an hour of physical activity per day, Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was one of a dozen NFL players who went to school on Tuesday with a student.
At one point, Hasselbeck was asked by a young girl, "Do you think girls should be allowed to play in the NFL?" one girl asked.
"Girls can play in the NFL. Ben Roethlisberger plays for the Steelers, right?" Hasselbeck said.

classy comment
that ranks right up there with Brandon Marshall questioning Joey Porter’s sexual orientation, and TO’s publicist saying “Terrell has 26 million reasons to live”…
hey how many rings does Hasselbeck have? how many wins does he have this season?… we don’t really care what a guy like Hasselbeck has to say, cuz obviously he realizes his real talent is OFF the football field, not on it. and i’m sure Ben brushed it off no prob…then went home and polished his Super Bowl XL ring.
by NoCal-SteelCity on Dec 4, 2008 4:27 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Poor loser
Man, I haven’t thought about Super Bowl XL in a while. That was almost three years ago. I’ve been more focused on this season. I guess Hasselbeck is still thinking about it, which explains why he’s stinking up the joint this year.

She’s married to Tim, not Matt. I don’t know what Matt’s wife does, but I’m still not gonna bet against her being the talent in that family.

Max McGee
Packer 2nd string TE (and punter) Max McGee didn’t think he would play in SB I. He was out drinking all night prior to the game and very hung over come game time. When the starting Packer TE was injured Lombardi sent the hung over McGee into the game. The drunken McGee had to borrow a helmet as he left his in the locker room thinking he’d be riding the pine. McGee promptly caught teh first TD in SB history and went on to record 7 catches for 138 and 2 TD’s including a brilliant one handed catch that was the Lynn Swann SB X catch of his day.
