Turf

Please lend me your brains.  How bad will the turf be?  What other games are happening prior to Sunday?  Which set of running backs will be better in a mudbowl?  What'ya think?  I do not like FWP on anything slippery and I don't think it matters in this regard if he is healthy or not.  (Ward will be great in the mud, however).  I would like to see Moore rather than FWP, with lots of Russell, but I have seen no reason to suspect this will happen.  I have no idea if Barber is or isn't a mudder.

If the turf and weather take out the passing game, I like our chances. I don’t know if it will be as bad as Miami last year, but my gut tells me it will be bad. It’s amazing how bad the weather was in NE but how good the playing surface was. I don’t know why they don’t go that route.

The NE turf did hold up quite nicely in horrible weather. Looked much better than Heinz. It is artificial and studies seem to show more injuries on the fake stuff.

Home Field Advantage

Turf was just replaced. One University of Pittsburgh game was played on it. Should be ok. The worse the condition the better for the home team.

Not as bad as last year

First off, its snow season. Snow doesnt ruin turf NEAR as bad as the stupid rain will. Snow means cold, which means actually the turf will probably be hard as a board and will hold together well enough at first.

It will come off in chunks as we often see. Heck most everybody tackled will probably have a 5" square stuck to their mask.

Fortunately this game is later in the year, and therefore no 5 high school games played on it. It will be its usual mess but it wont be terrible.

The weather really makes the difference. I pray to the football gods for a snow squall. Its our soul baby.

i'll go with russell

willie parker isn’t suited for a mudbowl but he can do a decent job. same holds true with mewelde moore. gary russell i think would be perfect for this weather. i would love to see him get some more carries. i could be mistaken and if i am somebody correct me but i think i heard somewhere that when they both were at university of minnesota that russell beat out marion barber???

I like the fact that...

Heinz field can get messy. It’s how football should be played. Bad turf gives us a distinct advantage over other teams when playing at home.
