More What Ifs
Since off-season seems to be the time for it, I had a thought... What if the Steelers could go take any active player off any roster and sign him? Is there one player that would put us in the Super Bowl for sure? What position do we look for?
First thoughts are the best players in the game today offensively, Peyton Manning, Brady, Tomlinson, but I don't see any of those three being SO much better than our starting QB and RB that I'd use this fantasy pick on them. I dunno, any thoughts?

Good question:
On offense, we need to go OL, so i would get Andre Gurode from Dallas. We would probably need 1 more OL to make a SB run, but i feel Mahan's inadequate play was the primary reason for our troubles and had a trickle down effect on the rest of the OL.
On defense, I think we need a player like Demarcus Ware to put opposite SilverBack. The pass rush this would generate would help our DB's immensely.
Didn't mean to go with 2 Cowboys, hate that team.

Love the 'what ifs'
Terrell Suggs - this guy's averaged 9 sacks a year over his five year career from the DE in a 3-4. That's pretty amazing and talk about an instant upgrade in the pass rush department.

Steeler Nation
I would choose a few people and narrow it down from there.
First of all, I'm not sold on Silverback as a starter (about now is when you shouldn't go after me), although I do think he's better than Haggans. I believe Woodley is going to be a stud next year at ROLB, so I'll pencil him in there. I would take either DeMarcus Ware or Shaun Merriman at the other OLB position; I would probably take Merriman because then we could steal him from a fellow AFC contender.
I would also consider taking Joe Thomas, again stealing a stud young player from a division rival.
Also at the FS position I would take one of two players: either the late Sean Taylor or Ed Reed. Both hard-hitting, ball-hawking FS's that would just be amazingly excellent in the Steelers system.
Other players in consideration would be Patrick Willis, LdT, Adrian Peterson, Braylon Edwards, Larry Fitzgerald, Champ Bailey.
And even though Gurode made the Pro Bowl this year, he really isn't that impressive/good (IMHO).

Hmm...
Any concensus on the best center in the league right now? I know Denver's guy is supposed to be ridiculously good, but he's also in his 15th year or something. Jeff Saturday maybe? As has been mentioned on the site losing Hartings is one of the biggest blows to the steelers in recent years.
I hadn't thought about taking a player away from another team as part of the strategy, good call. Might be worth taking Tom Terrific away from Belicheat and sitting him on the bench. Ok, maybe not, but I'm vindictive.

welcome to BTSC
I sure wouldn't shut the door in Osi's face either if he wanted to put on the Black and Gold.

Fun
Cromartie from the Chargers in the defensive backfield.
Ed Reed would love to come here just so he could avoid having Hines knock his ass out like did on national tv this year.
