Video: The Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1940s
Wow, what a gem of a find if I may say so myself. Perhaps some of you guys have seen this on some sort of other program, but I haven't. An excellent video of the Steelers' history in the 1940s. Enjoy.

great video
Most histories of the Steelers highlight the Steagles, but gloss over the unfortunate Chicago Cardinals merger the next year. Derided as the car-pits because teams walked over them, they lost every game. So it’s history probably best forgotten.

Thats
from the DVD “History Of The Pittsburgh Steelers” I think. If so I HIGHLY recomend it. This DVD is one of the best Steelers education video’s as it covers every decade of Steelers football from 1933 to 2004. Sorry, you’ll need the SB XL highlight DVD to see your one for the thumb.

Looks likes there’s closed captioning available on this DVD. That is BS that it’s not universally offered, but glad this one is.

Great Piece Blitz
Anything historical excites me, even the lean years. When describing how the Steelers traded Bill Dudley after he didn’t get along with Coach Jock Sutherland, it was interesting to hear Art Rooney say “They traded Dudley…” Not “we” but “they”. Unless I heard that wrong. That shows how removed Rooney was to the connection of winning. He was more interested in baseball, horse racing and boxing. Not a sin back then, the NFL was more entertainment than the religion it is today. In fact many players themselves opted for ordinary careers instead of playing in the league. They paid more.
