funny
How the lean years were only granted two minutes in this video series. Something tells me the 1970s will get a little more airtime.

Jim Finks
Thanks again Blitz. Always nice to see Jim Finks in highlights. I still burn over the fact that because the Hall of Fame installed him as an “Administrator” and not “Administrator/Player,” he does not get any mention in the Steelers Media Guide with our other Hall of Famers.
He played his entire seven-year career with the Steelers as a quarterback . He made the Pro Bowl in 1952 while leading the NFL with 20 touchdown passes, alot back then. That year he was even fourth in the league in rushing touchdowns with five, all in all a tremendous year.
He matched that in 1955 when he led the NFL in passing yards and completions and again scored four TDs rushing. He had three years of 2,000 yards or more, really impressive back in the day of a 12-game schedule, had three years where he was in the top three in completions, and even picked off seven passes, taking one to the house.
I realize those aren’t Hall of Fame numbers by themselves. He spent 25 years managing the Vikings, Bears and Saints. But his playing career certainly merited, in my mind, being inducted as an Administrator/Player. His whole body of work should have been acknowledged. He was productive enough as a player to at least have that recognized in addition to his GM work.
I guess if the HOF doesn’t acknowledge his playing days, the Steelers can’t be blamed too much for not claiming him in their proud HOF listing, but I believe justice would be served to do otherwise.
Sorry for that tangent. Just one man’s opinion.
