Pro bowl season for Woodley?

Pat Kirwan recently chose LaMarr Woodley as one of his 10 players who may be going to their first pro bowl next year. Seems to me like most analysts are high on him, as is everyone else around here including myself. Lets hope he lives up to the expectations that we have for him. I know I think he will.

Woodley

He stood out from the beginning, starting in last years’ training camp. I sure would love to see him and Timmons become a sort of LB version of Swann and Stallworth, both drafted in the same year as well. Here’s hoping Woodley delivers this year.

Thanks 4life

I noticed Aaron Sears was also on that list, higher up. He was drafted by Tampa right before us in the second round. An excellent guard like that would look really good in a Steeler uniform, but I have a feeling I will end up liking Woodley even more.

I don't see that happening..

If for no other reason than the fact that Woodley is going to be overshadowed by James Harrison on the other side. Harrison will be the star of the Steeler linebacking corps for at least another season or two.

...it's a long way to go..

From being a backup who never started a single game last season, with 14 total tackles, to the Pro Bowl. I’d love to see it happen, but I wouldn’t bet a cup of coffee on it.

Also

The Pro Bowl now a days is probably 50% based on reputation.

Harrison made the Pro Bowl because of his 8 FF. He only had I believe 8.5 sacks which is in reality bad to average for a 3-4 OLB. But the fact he almost had 100 tackles(which is alot of tackles for 3-4 OLBs) and 8 FF, one of the best defensive performances ever against the Ravens are what made his pro bowl stock rise.

Woodley would have to probably get atleast 10 sacks, and quite a few forced fumbles to make it.

Harrison's Pro Bowl

I still think Harrison made the Pro Bowl because of the first Baltimore game. So many fans had probably never even heard of him but anyone who watched that game remembered the name James Harrison. 3.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and an interception in a primetime game will do that for you. He had a really good year and deserved a PB, but if he has that game on a regionally televised game on a Sunday afternoon, I wonder if he’d have gotten in.

Bouchette on Woodley

from the post-gazette
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08154/886694-66.stm?cmpid=steelers.xml

I hadn’t realized/forgotten he had 2 sacks in the jags game and 4 (out of only 80 chances) in the regular season, putting him in 3rd on the team behind Harrison and Farrior. Pro Bowl or not, if he plays as well in an expanded role this season, he is going to be great to watch and a boost to the defense.

Wood

I think he’ll have to get off to a pretty fast start if he wants a real shot at the Pro Bowl. We have to remember that very few outside of Steeler Nation know LaMarr Woodley by name.

Woodley vs. Wimbley! Of course, Kamerion doesn’t have a Harrison lining up opposite him…

Woodley could be the next...

I think this guy is great and since last year I have been hoping to see him. I personally think of him as the next Greg Lloyd or Levon Kirkland…

beast

not only is he very physically gifted (and underrated by most teams during the draft last year--he ran slow at combine because of a hamstring injury but ran a 4.6 something at his Pro Day-great for his size) but he has excellent technique with his hands and his initial burst off the line is fierce. he has the look of a truly excellent pass rusher, not just a guy who gets sacks with speed only, he has burst, strength, technique, and most importantly, he just has the look/confidence about him that he’s going to get to the QB. i know it’s way early to say it, but i can easily see him becoming the best pass rusher the Steelers have had since Cowher first started…..

Wouldnt suprise me

Wood is a major upgrade from Clark Haggans who never got to the QB consistently. I dont know about pro bowl, but he will have close to 10 sacks if not more.
