Around SBN: Reid backs McNabb, does McNabb back Reid? Bar-right-arrows

Im back baby!

Just thought I would introduce myself to some of the newer folks on the site.  BTSC is my favorite website, hosted by my favorite blogger, but I have been going ninety to nothing since shortly after the superbowl(still makes me smile to think of NE coming up short).  Now I am fully moved to a new town, in a new, stress free job, and ready to join the banter again.  I have been keeping up with everything, still reading and all, I just haven't been able to post much.  I am seeing a ton of new names, so if any of you are older guys with new names due to the change over of the site, could you guys refresh my memory as to who ya are?  Thanks.

welcome back

I’ve been really busy recently as well but the site has really taken off and it should be fun as things start to get going in the next few months

heh

im a bank manager, and i just transferred out of little rock, aka crimetown, and back to northwest arkansas. The branch i transferred to is super slow, and not in a bad area which = less chance of robbery and getting yelled at. My last branch, i’ve been robbed, spit on, and hexxed. Yup, hexxed.

LOL

Robbed? That’s wild.

Good to have ya back on the block :)

forgot

Congrats. Those are all very nice developments. Sounds like the hard work’s paid off.

yup, robbed

I’ll try to make this short.

We have off-duty cops that work for us, one in each branch. This guy comes in, walks right by the cop, and up to me and asks where the bathroom is. I point to it, he turns and walks by the cop again, goes to the bathroom, comes back out, walks by the cop a third time, and comes up to me and hands me a note. The note says:

“Hello. This is a robbery. Please put all 100s, 50s, and 20s in the bag. Do not put any tracking in the bag. Do not alert police while I am in the building. Thank you.”

Then he hands me a gym bag. The cop was watching the whole time, since he saw the note. So I tried to make eye contact with the cop, and just kept stalling, acting like I was reading the note over and over. When the cop saw him hand me the bag, he came up behind him, grabbed him by the belt and said “Hey.” The dude turned around and I’ll never forget the confusion on his face. It was like he couldn’t believe the cops had gotten there that fast. He later told police that he thought that I had hit an alarm. He never saw him all three times he walked past him.

After seeing it was a cop, the guy flips and starts wrestling around. I yell at everyone to get out the back, and call 911. The two wrestle around until he breaks free and runs out, the cop on his heels. It was funny because I was telling 911 what was going on, and I had to run back to the drive thru to see where they were both going. Then I heard our door open up, ran back to the front of the bank and saw a guy standing in the doorway holding a gun. That was the first time that it got a little scary. I remember thinking ‘Who the fuck is that guy?’ Turns out, he was a detective who was in Blockbuster, which is where the girls from the bank all ran. But he freaked my shit out. That’s pretty much it. Pretty wild experience. The guy never had a gun, they caught him, and he got 25 years minimum in a pound-me-in-the-ass prison. Moral of the story I guess is make sure you take in your surroundings if your gonna rob a bank.

It made national news, including msnbc. Here is the video:

wow

Man I was sitting on the edge of my seat just reading that and that video is crazy. I have no idea how he can just stand there acting so calm knowing what he is doing.

i should point out before u read

that our off duty guys are uniformed.

by steelerark on Jun 13, 2008 12:41 PM EDT   0 recs

that is wild

glad no one got hurt

He walked past the cop three times?

That qualifies for one of those national dumb crime awards where the idiot begs to get caught. Good thing he didn’t have a gun or there might be one less Steeler guy in the world.

Scary story

Glad you were ok, steelerark! I can see why you decided to move to a different job.

By the Way

After seeing that video, your new handle is now stealerark.

by maryrose on Jun 13, 2008 3:25 PM EDT   0 recs

haha

nice one. The video was on MSNBC, on Olberman’s show, during a stupid criminal segment. Yeah wolfpack, Little Rock has a ton of robberies. My bank just had the first fatal shooting in a robbery in the history of Arkansas. Last Christmas, a guy walked up, shot a teller in the back, put the gun to another girls face and made her give him all the money. Then he just turned around, said ‘Merry Christmas’ and calmly walked out, smiling the whole time. Guy that died was 22 years old.

by steelerark on Jun 13, 2008 7:19 PM EDT   0 recs

Horrible

I hope they got the guy. What a bastard! I try not to curse on here, but that deserves it, I think.

by WolfpackSteelersFan on Jun 13, 2008 9:21 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

they did

he got life without parole. He was a young pup, so you can probably imagine what he’s doing in prison right about now…
