Steelers Sign Marvin Allen, Cut Jared Zabransky
The Steelers signed NFL Europe's Marvin Allen and cut reserve quarterback Jared Zabransky. Allen is a 5-10, 180-pound wide receiver and will remain on the team's eight-man Practice Squad throughout the 2008 season. Allen is from london, England. By declaring Allen the team's "NFL Europe Practice Playern" the Steelers get to go into camp with 81 players instead of the maximum allowed 80. Do not know anything else about him

Z-Man
Sucks for him. I liked watching his college career. There was absolutely zero chance of him making it as an NFL QB, but he was/is a great competitor and a QB that could do a lot of nice things on the college level. I watched lots of Boise State games (some family from there), and was always entertained. I hope he makes it somewhere in football, maybe Arena League?

Arena League would seem to fit the style of offense that they played up in Boise.

I’m surprised that other guy, Mike Potts, beat him out. There’s no way he could be very good; he just looks weird.

Sounds like Allen is the international exception
Basically he’s a warm body that be used in practice all year. They get to carry an extra guy on practice squad but he can’t be activated by the Steelers or any other team. So basically it’s great for him and the team.
I only know b/c the Cardinals recently got a player in the same program.

That sucks. I signed Jared on my Madden Steelers dynasty three days before the real team signed him, and I thought the Rooney’s were spying on me.
Go Tigers!
