Steelers Sign Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed

According to their official site, the Steelers have inked their first round draft pick Rashard Mendenhall today. Financial terms were not disclosed immediately, although the details will come out soon.

Hopefully the steelers will be able to get Limas Sweed under contract before Sunday. I am excited and relieved now that we at least have Mendenhall inked.  Any other fans have reactions about the signing?  When do you think we will get Sweed Signed I am guessing today or tomorrow at the latest.

Update: That didn't take long. The Post Gazette reports that the Steelers have signed Limas Sweed. All 6 draft picks will be present and accounted for in camp.

Sweed also

Post-Gazette says Sweed also signed a 4-year deal, terms not available yet. Most 2nd rounders have been getting 4-year deals, due to some language in the CBA agreement, until last week teams were waiting on a ruling about how it’s interpreted with regards to potentially uncapped season.

All present and accounted for!

I don’t think either player will start, so it wasn’ t imperative that they be in camp on day one but like they say…You’re only one injury away from starting.

Both players have a bright future and will contribute significantly in the next four to five years. Getting the full opportunity to learn at camp is a great start.

My juices are flowing and I’m ready to kick off the season!

great news

glad to see Ike giving “back” to the team, even though it doesn’t result in any less money for him.
