Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words...

so I shouldn't need to say anything more than to post this photo:

(Max Starks in front, Sean Mahan behind him)

OK, I wil say something more - that dude looks tiny next to Starks. If Sean Mahan is starting under center on Sep. 7th, I'm going to go to a corner and rock back and forth, quietly whimpering....

Not that it should be too much of a problem against the Texans, unless Mario Williams really does his thing. My father-in-law to be is from Houston, so normally I'm happy to root a little for them, but not in this game!

welcome

Hope you continue to jump in. Funny though that that pic prompted you. Agreed, pretty remarkable comparison. Damn.

Is it just me, or does Starks look like he’s floating..

by BluegrassSteeler on Jul 27, 2008 11:49 PM EDT reply actions

LOL

thought the exact same thing too. Then I noticed his back foot was on the ground. But at first it looked like both feet were off the ground and I thought the photo was doctored. But one foot’s there. Funny shit though bluegrass.

Hahaha

I thought the same exact thing when I first saw the pic. Heck, maybe starks WILL have a great year… ;)

I thought it was photoshop'd

until I saw Starks’ shadow. They’re saying he’s in real good shape, so he’s not messing around. Hopefully, he impresses so much at RT that they’ll move Colon inside early to give him a real shot at RG, since he’s in pretty good shape himself.

mmm, mahan is a step below and behind...

but still, he looks like Starks’ dorky college roommate out on vacation with Max, lol.
Hope Hartwig beats him out by week 2 or so, with stapleton getting an outside shot, spot duty, etc.

"dude, wanna come over and play with my Wii?"

Great observation, tkired! (And, you’re right, the size difference in the photo is partially because of distortions through the camera lens.)

Mahan could win the Garo Yepremian Contest for “football player who looks least like a football player,” beating out several punters and place kickers in the process. No wonder those man-eating defensive linemen aren’t quivering in fear when they line up across from him—though it’s amazing that they can get up a rush while trapped in paroxysms of laughter.

Of course, I can say all this while safely in my home 3,000 miles away from Pittsburgh. Mahan could still probably kick my ass just by swinging his earlobes in my direction.

uh guys

Starks is much taller yes, but he’s also standing on a curb in this picture.

by TheMostViolentTeam on Jul 28, 2008 1:52 PM EDT up reply actions

No...

What we’re saying is that Mahan sucks because he can’t float like Max.

by BadMaafala on Jul 28, 2008 2:45 PM EDT up reply actions

A floating right tackle could add an extra dynamic to the O line….

by BluegrassSteeler on Jul 28, 2008 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions

you're missing something

guys, i think you’re all missing the fact that yes mahan looks tiny compared to starks but that’s only because max has 12” “Cash” lifts in his shoes from all that extra money he’s making this year to be a backup

What were they thinking?

I thought Mahan was somebody looking for an autograph. For some reason he looks like he’s hoping no one will notice he’s sneeking in or something.

What in the world were they thinking when they pulled him in? I mean, geez I guess the market was slim pickin’s – like getting SPAM at the steakhouse. Sorry dude, but that’s how it seems.

Mahan...

all I have to say is it looks like Mahan is one haircut away from weighing in the 270-280 lbs range.
Seriously he is built like a fat TE.
Starks looks to be in good shape though, could be a big year after all for him if he stays focused for the whole game and doesn’t have mental lapses.
