Browns tickets
I am looking for 2 tickets to the December 27th game against the Browns. I know that they are sold out for the next 500 years or so, so I was wondering if any of you guys know a good way to get a couple tickets for near normal price? I don't wanna pay tons o' cash on ebay. Lemme know if any of you have some extras near that date, or if you know of a good alternative to getting some. Thanks.

tickets
I don’t have tickets or anything but I went to my first game last year (San Fran game) and paid basically double the face value. We got our tickets off of Stub Hub. Not sure where to get a better deal but I’m sure there is someone here that has a better way.

my Take
The best way to avoid over-priced seats is to show up on gameday, wait till about 15-20 mintues prior to kickoff and get them from the scalpers who no longer have leverage to wait. I have been going to these games for a long time and I hang out, tailgate, walk around as mush as anyone has. That is the best way to get the best price. My buddies and I did that many many times before I finally bought seat licenses. The market is always there.
That method, while economic, does not always sit confortably with some people. They like to have the tickets in hand, they don’t want to waste the time walking and talking and they may be with someone, a girlfriend or kid, and might feel uneasy, the don’t like the feeling of uncertainty, especially having traveled, etc.
The only way that maybe you can have it both ways is to go on the Steeler Website where I think they have a place where season-ticket holders can sell their tickets. I don’t know what kind of traffic is there. I’ve never been on that site. Most fans under 90 years old would have enough sense to sell on eBay and make some money rather than the steeler route.
Stay away from StubHub. There’s no negotiation and the asking prices are much higher than eBay. So you really need to think about paying for eBay and getting tickets in hand, or showing up and waiting until a few minutes before game time and paying less.

craigs list
Maryrose has a good point another good option is Craig’s list the week before the game. You’ll find people who for whatever reason can’t use their ticket and just want to get rid of it especially since that’s the week between christmas and new years i bet you’ll be able to find people looking to unload. You can also negotiate there.

cool, thnx
i checked out stub hub, ticketmaster’s fan ticket section, and ebay. Stubhub had some 50 yd line tickets for 340 apiece, ticket master had the same area for 1100. Ebay doesn’t work well at work, so I’m not sure. I really like the idea of hanging out outside the stadium, that’s what i do for most of the razorbacks games here. Only problem with that is like you said maryrose, the wife would be a little worried about that as an option since we are travelling there. My family gets together every two years (I am the youngest of 10, and we are all close, so in order to get everyone together for Christmas, we do every two years, with off years spent at the inlaws. This is the Pittsburgh year.) and I will already be in the area, so it wouldn’t be too big of a deal, probably just that much more of a bummer. The other problem with that, is that I would be taking a gamble with the fact that the division could be fairly competitive this year, and there could be a large chance that this game will have very large playoff implications, making tickets either not available or outrageous.

whoooa
Youngest of 10! That’s wild! Maybe our youngest sibbling factor accounts for some of our similarities, though I’m just the youngest of 4.
I like ‘roses and schnifins suggestions. Surely somebody will be unloading that week with mounting bills around the Holidays. Might be tough to be at the front of the line though.
