A Threatful Team We Should Pay More Attention To

                                                                      DENVER!!!

Denver has beaten the Steelers the past 2 years, last year we improved against them, but Denver has made many improvements that could lead to defeat for us.  Right, our receiving core is amazing, but Denver has signed many great players including Darell Jackson, Sammie Parker, Eddie Royal....and Jay Cutler did a heck of a job last year!!!  And guess what?!?....he has type 1 diabetes.  and he lost about 20 lbs. last year.  when he figured that he had diabetes, he treated it immediately and has recovered  from it  amazingly.  Now that he has recovered, he is gonna have a MONSTER year!!! and i didn't even come to Champ Baily yet.  Well you should know about Baily....he DOMINATES!!!  Another thing we have to prepare for is Selvin Young.  He had a monster year last year and he wasn't even the starter.  He is going to be a very big issue we have to focus on.  Now that you see my point, i think you will take Denver much more seriously.

                                                                Thank You!

Thats well and good

but we don’t play Denver. How about we worry about the teams that are on our schedule before we worry about teams not on it.

P.S. Great Players and Darell Jackson, S. Parker, etc… should not be in the same sentence.

basically

what you’re trying to say is that you’re a Denver fan. To me Denver looks like they are in big trouble. I don’t know why people keep saying guys like Cutler (and Brady Quinn to a lesser extent) are going to be great, when they’ve done nothing to prove it.

Cutler

While I’m not worried about the rest of the Broncos, I think Cutler has shown that he is a good QB in less than one and a half seasons of starting. He’s had a lot of turnovers, but that’s a pretty common problem for young QB’s. The big thing is that he’s shown upside and there’s reason to think he can fix his weaknesses over time. He’s both outperformed and shown more upside than either Leinart or Young, so I’m inclined to say he’s the most promising QB since Ben. He could be very threatful for a long time.

so does

Kendall Simmons, after he learned how to deal with it he didn’t suddenly get better at football.

yes but...

on the way to SBXL Denver didnt have Jay Cutler, Darell Jackson, Sammie Parker, or Selvin Young.

Champ Bailey is great

except when Hines makes him look average.

Moot point

We don’t play them and based on our schedule, the only way we are going to get to the playoffs is to win the division. Don’t see us being a wildcard based on the schedule, so it is a matter of beating the Clowns, bRavens, and Bungles….

Is this a joke?
Denver has signed many great players including Darell Jackson, Sammie Parker, Eddie Royal

Huh? Even when those guys dream at night, they aren’t great players.

Huh? Even when those guys dream at night, they aren’t great players.

they may not be the best, but they are experienced veterans….except for Royal, who will probably turn out to be a stud.

All im sayin is...

we have to pay more attention to Denver

by PsycoSalameh on Aug 14, 2008 11:59 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

what do you mean by that?

…. we should watch their games? why? this is a Steelers site, we’ll worry about how the Steelers play, and if the Steelers play up to their talent level, we (the fans), and the team, know they can beat anybody.

by TheMostViolentTeam on Aug 14, 2008 1:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

did i say that???

did i say we should watch their games?

by PsycoSalameh on Aug 14, 2008 5:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

no

you said, “we should pay more attention to”, and i asked, what exactly do you mean by pay more attention to?

by TheMostViolentTeam on Aug 14, 2008 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well, in the category of teams...

…that have beaten us for the last two years but we actually do have to play again, I’ll be thinking about Jax.

Denver

Didn’t they miss the playoffs last year with Cutler? Sure, he may be much better with his diabetes being treated, but let’s see first.

?

I am perplexed by the team in your post. I think we have a lot more issues we have to consider first before we can think about playing a team in the playoffs. First off – we have to make the playoffs this year – that is not a guarantee. We have a number of teams on our schedule that are much scarier than Denver. At the end of the day we just have to steal Jay’s insulin – in any case, Darrell Jackson’s been impotent like a 78 year old the last few years, Samie Parker couldn’t hang on with Chiefs – no receivers except Bowe who was rookie, and Eddie Royal? Are you kidding me? I think that you could make the argument that every single team in our conference is better than the Broncos.

I'm pretty sure Denver doesn't mean a lick to us until Janurary.

We’ve got to get through two of the toughest divisions in professional football, the NFC East and the AFC South, not to mention our own division, plus San Diego and New England, and you’re worried about Denver?

Really?

The names Brady, Manning, Manning, Romo, Rivers, Moss, Owens, Tomlinson, Palmer, Quinn (HAHAHAHA), Westbrook, Barber, Addai, Wayne, Johnson, McGahee, Jones-Drew, etc don’t mean more to you than a handful of washed up ex-successful players and a diabetic Jay Cutler?

Get a grip. We’re playing against nearly all of the most successful players and teams in the NFL this year, and Denver is not one of them.

I forgot that was a MI t-shirt. There’s really no way to tell it’s not a Steelers shirt. Just photoshop a hypocycloid in and don’t volunteer the actual origin of the picture and you’re golden.

Maybe if I flip the colors, or make it black and white.

As an aside, I really really dig the faux-retro uni’s that we wore last year for the Balty game. I think a number 56 in big block yellow is going to look pretty awesome.

you are misunderstanding me....

im not worried about Denver…im not sayin we have to focus on Denver and only Denver because if we dont the sky will fall.

im sayin that Denver is gonna come out of the preseason strong and we have to watch out for them. Denver is no joke. if you say they stink, then you are sayin Pittsburgh does to, ( Denver beat Pitt the last 2 years ) and i know Pitt doesnt stink. look, im 1 of the people who look at Denver like they are gonna be a threat, not like a " Denver not good at all " person. when i look at teams i evaluate whats good about them and whether or not i think they are a threat to other teams, not whats bad about them and thats all. Think about it……if you really take the time to look at Denver, you would say they are ALMOST as threatful as New England.

by PsycoSalameh on Aug 14, 2008 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I took the time. I wasted that time. Saying that I’m putting down the Steelers because the Broncos beat us the last two years is ridiculous. This year’s team is not last years team is not the year before that’s team. Similar logic (heard of it?) can be applied to the Broncos. They are worse for having Darrell Jackson (you heard it here first, folks, washed up wide receivers are even worse at high altitude), and good luck getting even 30 yards/game out of Parker.

Also, I was at the Broncos game. The game plan beat us, Denver merely got the credit.

Denver is a 6 win team this year, at best. And those will have to come from the Raiders twice, the Chiefs twice, the Fins and the Bills. I don’t think they can beat any of the other teams on their schedule, home or away.

Listen, we’re not going to nail you to a cross for being a Denver fan. You’re allowed, I promise. But coming in here spewing nonsense isn’t going to get you anywhere. If you can tell me how Champ Bailey has failed to stop San Diego for the last umpteen years and yet is going to lock them down this year, please enlighten me.

If, on the other hand, you are trying to convince me that the Broncos have even one tenth the talent as the Pats on offense, you’re going to lose any and all credibility that you’ve got left.

Think about it…. if you really take the time to look at Denver, you would say they are ALMOST as threatful [sic.. wtf does threatful mean anyway] as the Raiders. Or maybe Miami.

You think im a Denver fan?!?

HAHAHAHAHA im a Steeler fan, my brother is a Bronco fan and thats how i know everything about Denver…..im a Denver fan……HA!!!!

im just tryin to tell ya that Denver isnt as bad as you think.

and i wanna make this clear….IM A STEELERS FAN!!!!!!!!

Who said Denver was going to stink (before you posted this)?

I think we’re just wondering why you chose to say that the Steelers should be worried/concerned/keeping an eye on or whatever on the team that they aren’t scheduled to play. If we’re going by that logic, we should also be worried about the Jets, Minnesota, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Green Bay, Carolina or any other team that has a remote chance of playing the Steelers should both teams make the playoffs.

by cgolden on Aug 14, 2008 2:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm worried

about Houston. And then the Browns, the Eagles…That’s how I roll. And if I were a Denver fan I’d take this post and see if Charger and Raider fans are ready to wet their pants over Jay Cutler’s glucose count.

What?

Worry about the next meaningful game we play instead of some mythical postseason apparition? What is this sillyness?

i think

the Giants seem threatful

by tkired on Aug 14, 2008 3:00 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

We take offense!

Anthony Smith is not threatful!

Whoops wrong thread. ;)

Seriously bizarro world stuff here. Don’t worry about the teams we don’t play. If we see them in the postseason we’ll be ready. Heck, don’t worry about the teams we do play. Worry about our OL or how are special teams gonna hold up, or will Troy Ever get back to play? Worry about the lack of tailgate space! (A truly valid worry!) Worry that Steely McBeam still exists.

I just don’t get it.

Oh yeah, Brett is upset the Packers called him threatfull.

The Reason Why I Chose Denver.....

to every1 who was wondering why i chose Denver and not some other team like Jax, or New England…..the reason i chose Denver was because every1 knows Jax and NE are a threat, but nobody really looks at Denver as a threat, if nobody was sayin Jax and NE all the time then i would have wrote about them and not Denver, but it seems like every1 is takin Jax so seriously and forgetting that Denver even exists.

After watching the Bills/Steelers game..

I say we take it one week at a time and not overlook ANY teams. lol
Bills starters flat out beat our starters on both sides of the ball.

by iBleedBlack&Gold on Aug 15, 2008 5:32 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Agreed

The Bills drove right down the field on us. Not our second and third team our FIRST TEAM. I know we had no Troy (which to me isn’t as big as people think) and it was preseason. As for the post why should any Steeler fans care about the Broncos. I am more worried about the Texans then the Broncos. If the guy posting this says Darrell Jackson and Sammie Parker are great then I am not worried about them. Do you just label everybody who dresses on game day great. Lambert, Bradshaw, Swann, Stallworth, Steel Curtain etc. thats great. not Sammie Parker, Darrell Jackson, and Eddie Royal!!!
