Who makes it?

I just finished reading  Brown's Trib article concerning guys on the team now (like Bloom ) who are really looking to make a splash on Friday versus the Eagles.  There's an interesting comment from Chris Hoke about how he didn't hesitate to throw punches to get the attention of the coaches (which could explain some of Anthony Smith's strange behavior?)

My questions for everyone is who are the players that are right on the edge of making it, and who are you looking to check the progress of in the preseason?   Who do you think is walking already?  Who do you expect alot from on Friday, and who do you think will fizzle?

It seems so easy to know who will stay and go, but even relatively high draft picks (Fred Gibson) can go the way of the dodo...

Baker, Essex, Mundy, Fox, Humpal

Willie Reid has had several years to show what he can do and he doesn’t dress on game day. Big opening for Baker here. We’ve read about how much use he made of last year … we’ll see.

Will Trai get reps at guard and if he does then he might solidify his spot since Tomlin has been preaching position fliexibility.

I think Mundy will get every opportunity to unseat Carter.

Fox and Humpal better pack a wallop on special teams.

Agreed

Unless he shines this preseason, Willie Reid is good as gone.
Baker and Micah Rucker will be competing for 5th receiver spot.
Bloom has a chance, but that chance went way down when we signed special team specialist Eddie Drummond.
Fox could make the team based on his special team play. I’m an Arnold Harrison fan though, so if Fox makes it we probably have to cut Arnold Harrison. We will wait and see what happens.
Trai Essex will make the team because of his position flexibility.
As a matter of fact I see us keeping Mahan, Hartwig, Stapleton, Colon, Marvel, Simmons, Kemoeatu, Starks, Essex. Not sure on Tony Hills or Legursky yet, I could see us keeping one then put the other on practice squad.
