Tom Curran is an As$4ol3
Here is his bold predictions for 2008 for the Steelers
1. If it weren’t for the pitiful Ravens and Bengals, the Steelers would've made an even louder thud in the AFC North.
2. Ben Roethlisberger has a Pro Bowl season and puts up gaudy numbers but the sudden ineptitude of the Pittsburgh defense makes that a necessity.
3. It becomes clear that Willie Parker’s 75-yard touchdown run in Super Bowl XL was the height of his career, not a sign of things to come.
Ouch, and here is what he has to say about the Brownies (FYI, I think the color of kool-aid is purple no puke brown)
1. Between adding Donte Stallworth on offense and Shaun Rogers to the defense, Phil Savage gets support for Executive of the Year.
2. Brady Quinn gets more time under center than anyone intended, as Derek Anderson’s preseason injuries carry over into the regular season.
3. Despite winning the division, the Browns find themselves with a full-fledged QB controversy as Quinn’s performances make him a reasonable option.

Garbage.
Steelers on the downfall, yadda yadda yadda, Browns on the rise, blah blah blah…
There’s always a few writers/bloggers who try to go realllly bold this time of year.
Let them keep fueling our fire.

WHAT THE F??
Ben Roethlisberger has a Pro Bowl season and puts up gaudy numbers but the sudden ineptitude of the Pittsburgh defense makes that a necessity.
Last time I checked, we were at or near the top of most defensive categories last year.
THats beyond pathetic journalism.

Does this guy forget that our defense was probably the best overall last year statistically? Also FWP racked up some yards last year. Now hes suddenly a has been? Give me a break.

Touts
Interesting how a guy like this can tout the Browns, although unproven, and diss the Steelers although proven. More to the point, no one concedes that last year we were also predicted to not do so good, primarily due to Ben’s questionable play carrying over and the new coaching regime.
Now, the coaching change regime which last year was a negative, should be spun as a positive and Ben’s proving himself is acknowledged, but, treated as a wash. So what do we hear – 47 sacks, loss of Faneca and our slide at the end of last year. But, countering that there’s no note for a more mature line, another year in the system, a healthy Smith, the addition of Hartwig and a healthy Parker. On the defense the slide was directly attributed to injuries to 3 starters – Clark, Smith and Polamalu. Not to mention the emergence of Holmes and, I believe, Spaeth and the additions of Moore, Mendie and Sweed.
Let’s see if I am a writer I add Mendie, Moore, Sweed, Hartwig, a healthy Parker and healthy Smith, an emerging Holmes and one more year in Arians system and then subtract Faneca and the Steelers end up with a negative. Some funny math here.
A healthy defense, plus Woodley and Timmons and let’s not forget ole Lebeau – speaks for itself.
