Dirty Browns?

Story on ESPN; Ravens accusing the Browns of particularly dirty play, Willis McGahee apparently got his eyes gouged on more than one occasion and has considerable swelling in his eye this week as a result of it.  Anyone ever remember a situation like this, where a team was so mad about dirty play they publicly called them out?  Sure to light a fire under the next Browns-Ravens game.  I'm still surprised the league had nothing to say about Rogers late hit on Roethlisberger last week, and this kind of stuff is definitely far dirtier than that, so there may be suspension/fines coming for Andra Davis and the other unnamed player.  That being said, this is nothing compared to what Hines Ward does regularly. (Sarcasm).  Right Kwoog?  :-)

THANK YOU

I thought I was the only one that noticed Rogers late hit. Neither commentators said anything about that. It was pretty obvious and we’re not just being over protective of Ben, right?

correct

even read on the Dawgs by Nature site most Browns fans felt they got away with one. Rogers took two solid steps after Ben had already released the ball, and lowered his shoulder into him. Whereas on Woodleys late hit, at least Woodley was already lunging for the QB as the ball came out, and then he simply fell on him because there was nothing else he could do.

Well when players state before the game that they just have to do what they have to do and they won’t worry about the refs, you know it’s going to be dirty. But hey, it’s football, they get to take their shots, and kudos to the browns for realizing they can’t win on a level field and searching for another way to win.

according

to ESPN, the NFL has absolved the Browns players of any wrongdoing. While obviously he got poked in the eye, the tape (the league at least feels) must have not shown conclusive evidence that it was intentional.

I’m not saying the Browns are innocent in the McGahee incident. However, after several years of someone like Andra Davis not having a negative reputation, I’d find it odd for him to suddenly pick Willis McGahee and go “hmm…I’ll gouge his eyes out”.

agreed

I just posted because I thought it was newsworthy, plus Kwoog is always calling Ward a dirty player, so it’s a little bit of a rib, but other than that, it’s easy for fingers to end up in the facemask in a scrum at the goalline, it looks 20 times worse in slow-motion, but in real time players are just trying to knock each other down.

I thought at McGahee wore a visor anyways

Did he recently stop wearing it or did they reach inside the visor?

After researching my own question....

McGahee was wearing a visor during the game and someone he got gouged in the eye not once but twice. If that happened once, I could maybe understand but a hand really reaching inside a visor and gouging an eye twice in the same game is damn near impossible.

Sounds awful dirty if you ask me (not that anyone is), and I’m pretty surprised that they were cleared.

Dirty stuff...

Also during the Browns game I thought I saw a few times when tacklers were putting their knees into Willie’s ribs after he was down…

I truly believe that that hit on Ben was a non-call as the guy had to take two steps after the ball was thrown. The Woodley call was the reason I got upset about it though – that’s just officiating not being level.

I really think this kind of stuff is part of the melee that is football, but when the refs call it on one side they shoudl call it for the other side too.

Poor Losers

The Browns have been poor, frustrated losers this season. After their surprising 10-6 2007 season, they expected to challenge for the division, and even the conference title. Yeah, right! Then they lay three eggs to start the season and outlast a Carson Palmer-less horrible Bengals team. That game was on locally in Baltimore and it was like watching a Div II, no a high school contest! Ohio deserves both of them. Their fans, just like the team, are poor losers as well. When they lose, they resort to name calliong and personal attacks if you try to go to their site. The main writer is great, but the fans are pretty lame, especially in comparison to you Steelers fans, who talk trash but make good comments and can take it while dishing it out as well.
