A Bad Sign?

Just got finished watching the Sunday night game, where a lackluster Chicago offense affectively negated Philly's pass rush and ran well.  Plus, Kyle Orton threw 3 touchdown passes in the first half and only got sacked 4 times.  They led the Eagles the entire game for crying out loud!  I don't know about you guys but I have a bad feeling about that.  I hope some adjustments were made for tomorrow night's game or we're in big trouble.

I wouldn't put too much into it

Chicago had an entire week to study the Philly-Steelers game. In the NFL, you can’t do the same thing 2 weeks in a row.

Only watched the second half

So it could be that I have a skewed view of the game, but I thought that the Eagles defense looked very good, despite what the Bears managed. Yes the Bears did all the things that Steelers SHOULD have done (screens, run, short routes, hot-reads, and reverses) but they also went a really long stretch in the second half without a first down. They turned the ball over a lot.

Don’t get me wrong. There is no excusing the stinker the Steelers threw up against the Eagles. It was awful. But I still think that the Eagles D, is a very strong D. It just happens they matched up a little too well against the Steelers weaknesses.

also

BIG BIG difference between home and away. Very easy to lose control of a game on the road, which leads to disaster on the line. Last nights game was at Soldier Field, and the Iggles still got after Orton

My thoughts exactly..

I was watching the thing thinking to myself….isn’t this Kyle Orton and the offense that relies on special teams and defense?

Orton did get pressured and sacked and had a few turnovers, but the Chicago OC kept the run going, and kept throwing quick slants, screens, etc… at the Eagles. They blitzed, were effective at their blitzing, but also were made to pay a price for it.

I like to think (unfairly?) that the Steelers have a much better offense than the Bears (although they probably get props on the line). That game just made me more certain that it was play calling that chiefly led to last weekend’s debacle.

Play calling, that's the reason

This is a crazy season, almost every favorite team has lost and easy game, and you have to be able to change your game desing after 2 series to be able to win. This is what the Steelers can’t do last week. they try to emulate the Dallas game, the thing Arians din’t think was Dallas has a great O-line, and the Eagles study thei mistakes. Today i hope the game design and play calling be different. The Steelers have to be flexible, specially againts a great D.
