Happy New Year, BTSC

Star-divide

I'm not sure if it's true Steelers dedication or simply a warning sign that I have no life, but here I am, two hours into the new year, checking up on the latest BTSC activity.  I want to wish all of you a safe, healthy, and prosperous new year, as well as pose the following question:

If you were any particular Steelers player or coach right now, what would your new year's resolution be?

I am Big Ben Roethlisberger, and my resolution is to make quicker decisions.  During my rookie year, if my first option was not there, I took off running.  This year, I am staying in the pocket and scanning my first, second, third, and check-down options.  By the time I realize that my check-down option is covered, I am usually picking grass and dirt out of my facemask and popping my shoulder back into place.  In the new year I will gain positive yardage on every play.  If my receivers are covered, then a 3 yard QB scamper is better than an ill-advised incomplete pass, and certainly better than a bone-jarring sack.  Early in my career I used to love to take off running with the ball, and I'm gonna bring that back in 2009.  Play me to pass, and I'll run for five yards.  Play me to run, and I'll stand in the pocket and deliver a laser to a streaking receiver.  It's a lose-lose situation for you, NFL defenses!

One for the other thumb!!!

new years resolution

I am turnstile willie colon, My new year resolution is to get down in my stance and blocks some speed rushers this year. I have decided to tell the coaches i would rather play guard, i mean i am so tired of just holding onto players as if my life depended on it and then seeing another long touchdown called back for holding. I mean as a right tackle i just stink, but i am pretty sure i could make a serviceable guard. Maybe then my boy ben would not be doing his best impression of a tackling dummy, and greatly shortening his football playing days, I do not want to see the days of malone, brister, and maddox et al just because i can not play RT, so please please coach make me a guard and draft some tackles.

Maybe you are remembering Ernster?

http://www.nfl.com/players/mitchberger/profile?id=BER067954

I didn’t want Berger to come back. I’m worried about his hamstrings, and he had a bad game or two. Give him some credit though, he’s averaging just 1 yard a punt worse than sepulveda did last year with a longer LNG. I noticed that nfl.com’s stats are messed up also, and his averages are including the games ernster played. And in case you are looking for a trend since Berger came back…

vs. BAL 42 yd avg
vs TEN 44 yd avg
vs CLE 46 yd avg

He’s not a world-beater, but he has saved our ass, all while getting shit long-snaps from Retkofsky.

you're right

i just have a bad taste in my mouth from the sub-par punting all year. but you are correct. and i totally agree that the long snapping has been an issue.

therefore, i apologize to mitch berger. sorry, mitch. keep the trend going.

I am Troy Polamalu

and I resolve to be even more mind blowingly awesome, and make at least one insane INT per playoff game in 2009.

(hey, why not? ;)
