Steelers vs. Chargers - Divisional Round Open Thread

Hey folks,

I'm filling in for our fearless leader Blitzburgh, who's out of pocket today to watch the game, hopefully in a sea of Black and Gold. (Not too likely in Seattle!)

All the questions get answered today - will the O line put it together? Is Big Ben's head clear? Is Sproles all that? I think we're all hoping that the current trend of top seeded teams getting knocked off comes to an end right now.

HERE WE GO STEELERS!

Steeler Fans. I have no doubt he found a safe haven full of Black and Gold. We are everywhere!

20 more minutes till game time

I am so freaking nervous. It reminds me of election night.

I’m just praying for zero interceptions. If we don’t turn it over, then we will win.

If we lose to San Diego, then I will be crying myself to sleep.

How did San Deigo get such a hick?

by Danto85 on Jan 11, 2009 4:28 PM EST up reply actions

He's good for a fantasy team, but he's inexplicably infuriating as a real person.

May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.

by juperee on Jan 11, 2009 4:29 PM EST up reply actions

Watch out for that freaking punter of theirs.

Best of luck to you guys. All the Indy fans are counting on you to end the chargers run. :)

by juperee on Jan 11, 2009 4:28 PM EST reply actions

Shouldn’t we be forgiving them? The end of that game killed off quite a few Steelers fans! ;)

by PaulMorel on Jan 11, 2009 4:29 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, let bygones be bygones.

We still feel pretty good about the 2006 season :D

Besides, the chargers are more of a thorn in our backsides lately

(they eliminated us last year, too) and they’re infinitely more annoying. Rivers. what a prick.

Salute the Duck

I haven’t been around long enough to get a read on all the posters here, but I think we owe a visitor a rec or two for his participation over the past week.

Everybody raise a glass for MarineCorpsDuck.

Frankly, it’s a shame he follows the Chargers. Over the past week, the duck has provided worthwhile insight, humor, and a reality check for us enthusiastic Steeler fans. He’s tolerated ribbing from us and left good-natured and civil posts in reply to many recent threads. Dangit, he’s almost cuddly.

Let’s raise a glass to a friendly fan in the moments before our Steelers raze his playoff hopes. :-)

I’m interested to see what the steelers do in the second half.

I suspect that they have spent the 1st half making everyone think RUN. I think the 2nd half will result in more passing….

It seems

that the game plan so far is to let the D win it, and no to put too much on Ben’s hands in the first half. I have to say, i am liking it so far. Would love to see us mix in a couple more play action passes.
