Need Advice....
I’m a lifelong Steelers fan that never made it to Three Rivers, but I have been to a game at Heinz Field. Our Steelers lost to the Raiders, but it was still a fantastic experience!!!
I have a 13-year-old son who is also a huge Steelers fan. We just grabbed tickets on-line and are flying in on Saturday.
We need some advice – where to go, where to stay, tailgating etc….
Any feedback would be appreciated!!!

somebody help this guy and his son por favor
however Canada, might want to give a bit more detail about what kinds of things you might have in mind – often times non family people have asked and bars are reccommended. That doesnt sound so hot for a pops and his 13 year old.
Little more info might help poeple guide you in the right direction.
Call me
I actually live in Cleveland but i’ve been to a million Steeler games. I’ll try and help you out as best as possible. 440-262-5525. (I have a ton going on right now, but I’ll call you back if i don’t answer)
Go Steelers!
Things you should try to do/get to while in Pittsburgh:
1. Go get yourself and Primanti Bros sandwich. Ask for a cap/egg, you won’t be disappointed.
2. While you’re getting that, take a stroll down the Strip District. Lots of open markets, people, Steelers bootleg items.
3. I would try to stay on the Southside if I were you. Like the Holiday Inn Express (877) 863-4780. Most hotels will be more expensive this weekend (obviously), but it’s a good location. You can walk all up and down E Carson St with you son. All kinds of cool shops and things to see. Gives you a good glimpse of Pittsburgh in an afternoon. This hotel will be about a 1 to 1.5 miles from the stadium, so you can walk there too (just gotta cross a bridge or two).
4. Make your way up into Oakland neighborhood (where Pitt is at) and get yourself a Dave & Andy’s ice cream cone. I know it’ll be cold, but this is one of the top 10 ice cream shops in the US. 5 to 10 minute bus ride.
5. Go check out the Terrible Tree at the downtown courthouse. It’s only up for the playoffs and it’s fun to check out.
6. If you stay on the Southside, go to The Library to eat. Their sweet potato fries are to die for.
7. There should be some rallies and other fun Steelers-related events going on. Check online.
Got more suggestions, but I’m not sure how long you’ll be around. If you need help/directions/anything else, you can try me too. (724) 544-5968. I live in Pittsburgh so I might be able to help out too.
Thank-you....
Thanks for all of the info…..
I’ve been to a few NFL/NCAA games over the years. Our men’s hockey team charter a bus and drive to KC every year to see a Chiefs game. We plan a college game on the Saturday Mizzou, KU etc….those trips are 30 guys between 35-45 years old away for the week-end – so they end up a GONG SHOW!!!!
This week-end won’t quite be the same, but I’m still very pumped at the thought of being there live!!!!
We fly in on Saturday around noon. I’ve booked the Wyndham (near Pitt).
I think we’ll just hang around downtown, take in some of the sites and grab some food at some of the recommended sites. Ice Cream even sounds OK – I woke up this morning to -35 C, add a 15KM windchill factor and it’s -47C!!!! I’m looking forward to a “balmy” Pittsburgh afternoon!!!!
I assume tailgating is like anywhere – throw down a case of beer and join the fun???
