Tomlin shows important quality--bringing out the best in his players
I heard a report that Tomlin went to Willie Colon and Darnell Stapleton during the prep for the SD game and told them that they are going to run to their side heavily, and that they would be the difference in the game to either win it or lose it--challenging them to step up the quality of their play.
Brilliant move. Having guys that you believe in but who aren't delivering. Put it on them to win or lose.
This is IMO another in a string of examples that shows Tomlin as being an excellent manager of his team's mental state.
I particularly loved the way he handled the Willie Parker situation earlier. He manages to call people out in his press conferences without embarrasing them.
This is a characteristic that bodes well for his longevity as a successful coach in the Burgh.

For sure!
great post.
tomlin pushes the buttons at just the right time. darnells been good; he needed to be better. The FWP example is perfect – hes been great since then including against BMore last time, the game after his comments to the media.
One time Pittsburgh!

True indeed.
I love the way MT has prepared the team this year. That is why I don’t worry about stuff like “beating a team for the third time” and “The Steelers have lost x number of AFC Championship games at home.” Seems like he has these guys truly beliveing in what he is preaching. Remember up until week 15 this year, we had not won in Baltimore in quite some time.

Only one explanation
CMT has developed some sort of mind control device. This is why players respond to everything he says and it always seems like he’s reciting warrior poetry when he gives a press conference.
I can’t wait to see Coach Mike Tomlin playing Omar Epps playing Cocah Mike Tomlin in a movie about the life and times of Coach Mike Tomlin.

too bad Tupac's not still around to play a role somehow
maybe some bad demon that Omar has to shake – think Juice meets Hamlet in some weird way. With football tied in…or something.

This guy can play Joey Porter
Page Kennedy

Dude looks a lot like Porter and I like him as an actor-can get mad really well, just like Joey.
Those that watch the TV show “Weeds” know what I’m talking about. If you’ve never heard of the show and are looking for something good to watch, or like a lil’ bit of herb every once in a while, you’ve love it.
