AFC Championship Game Open Thread II - Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Wow. Strange half. Baltimore's lucky to be in this one - let's just leave it at that for now.

Style points mean nothing right now - just one half of football left for a trip to Tampa Bay. Come on Steelers!

I have such mixed feelings

I’m glad we’re up, but we left a lot of points out there

I don't think we'll keep being that unlucky

especially with baltimore bringing TEs in on their D

Agree....

…but at the same time we got the ball back on a total BS roughing the kicker call…

GD Zebras are killing us.

They need to let them play. Very inconsistent calling. No call on play before touchodown. Kicker call was a pathetic makeup.

by SteelCurtain4Life on Jan 18, 2009 8:40 PM EST reply actions

I think the NFL is calling the refs now...

“Uh, guys, last thing we want is a Baltimore-Arizona Super Bowl…”

Remember Pittsburgh is a second half team!

we really need them to be today

we can’t let them score on the opening drive… that is going to be HUGE!!!

bottom line is

Sweed better get his head in the game – without Ward, he’ll be needed again most likely to make a play. Past is the past. We need to win this freaking game.

fuck baltimore

prayers to McGahee but when you cheer and praise for opponents to have their legs snapped like they did, fuck having too much sympathy for them. Sorry! So long as his lifes not adversely affected moving forward, which its not it appears thank God, whatever, I’m basically chalking it up to karma for being dirty

that's right

but it should have been Walker – McGahee is okay in my book.

wow

Vicious, but clean, hit. Part of the tough side of this sport. Nothing illegal about what Clark did. Just a little reminder of how physical and tough this sport really is.

by holiday park on Jan 18, 2009 10:10 PM EST reply actions

yeah

nothing wrong with the hit – ray-ray would have been proud to make it. still feel bad for mcgahee though.

by acrollet on Jan 18, 2009 10:11 PM EST up reply actions

believe me

I live in Mass. and heard plenty of whining about Clark’s hit on Welker in the NE game, another heavy but clean hit. Yes, there will be complaining. But this is a harsh sport. These kinds of risks are always there.

That hit reaches Tampa and Arizona.

This is one game that exceeded the hype

They predicted a brutal game. This was a textbook definition of brutal. The Ravens-Steelers rivalry is now no doubt the toughest and most heated in the NFL.

by TURFgeek on Jan 18, 2009 10:12 PM EST reply actions

yup

and of course the ravens had to chirp all week about embracing the violence of the rivalry. Karma bitches.

by Michael Bean on Jan 18, 2009 10:13 PM EST up reply actions

this game was so much more than anyone thought

Wha'd ray ray say?

“We had them where we wanted in the two previous games and now we just have to close”

Yeah, that’s what happened…or you just can’t close.
