Congrats to the Steelers and BTSC
This is from Rexx, the Ravens blogger. Your team was obviously the better team yesterday and did everything they need to do to win the game. I actually thought we were going to come back there late in the foruth quarter but Troy had another thing to say about that. You will rep the AFC North well and I am looking forward to seeing you match up with the Cardinals pass offense in Tampa. A couple of things:
1. The Steelers defense played lights out as it did all season and in all three games against us. We couldn't make the big plays that had made us all so impressed with Joe Flacco's rookie season. I disagree that his rookie status doomed him in this game, as I give total credit to your defense, as it wouldn't have mattered if he was a ten year vet yesterday, your "D" was that good.
2. Big Ben was masterful and calm as he moved and dodged the apparent sacks, only to find his open receivers time and time again. While we might have covered them at first, give Ben time and he'll find someone open sooner or later, which he constantly did for huge plays.
3. Whoever this "Stone" guy who was BRAND new to the Ravens is, we need to crucify him in public for the absolutely stupid boneheaded personal foul penalty when we were knocking on the door late in the game. Even I had never heard of him and hope I never hear it mentioned again.
4. Ray Lewis said his hit on Mendenhall was one of his most memorable. The fact that he was injured on that play was never mentioned by Ray. That commnet is unfair but I understand your feelings based on Ray's talking about it like he does. However, after 12 years in the league as the best MLB in history, that's just Ray being Ray.
5. I was happy but sad to see Ward on the sidelines. I was sort of glad he was out of the game so he couldn't make the plays and flash that shit-eating grin that all Ravens fans can't stand. On the other hand I wanted to beat you at full strength, but that obviously didn't go as planned.
6. 28 other teams sat home and watched football on TV, or not. Only four teams played yesterday. I think it's fair to say we will have some more classic games in the very near future. It will be our pleasure to take you guys on again and we relish the opportunity to put a beat down on the 2009 Super Bowl Champs!
Good luck.

It takes a man to congratulate his rival
I respect that
On #4- Ok; so Ray didn’t mention the injury, we’ll give you that. You get the benefit of the doubt. I just hope Clark can remember what must be his favorite hit of the year. He was groggy.

pretty gracious
The Ravens were TOUGH. I’ve never seen a more brutal defensive game.
I hope McGahee is ok… he’s a real competitor.

Football is the #1 best sport in the world.
Much better than baseball, basketball, hockey, etc.
In most parts of the world, soccer is #1. They are insane

Thanks and good luck next season.
I’m already thinking about our meetings next year and how the ravens are going to be coming in with such a huge chip on their shoulders. Should be two fantastic games. But for now, the Steelers are moving on to the BIG GAME and we will all be looking forward to that.
I wish all Ravens fans were as gracious as you… I received many text messages and phone calls from Baltimore fans claiming the Cardinals and how they are going to beat us. Nothing about how this was the THIRD TIME the steelers have beaten their team and how the better team obviously won this game.

No, you guys should definitely rep the AFC and the North Division
Cardinals present a tough pass defense task, but something tells me you guys will be ready.

thanks rexxer
Sucks y’alls season is over for your sake. The ride is fun but comes to an end in disappointment for all but one team. Huge offseason for the Ravens. Should make for a good time at Baltimore Beatdown. Will be checking in with ya for sure!

classy rexx
really sucks about that mcgahee injury. had that awful knee injury in the national championship game a couple of years ago when he lost to osu, and now he gets a really bad injury getting knocked out of the playoffs. tough luck.

McGahee
redeemed himself a bit in many Ravens fans eyes. He had a so-so season and made some me-first comments, but he was all business and showed he’s got a lot left in the tank. I’m sure he’ll be okay and be back in there by Training Camp, unless of course he is a Cap cut, which I doubt. After all, he’s from the “U.”

Ed Reed x Polamalu
Well, this game showed Troy is the perfect fit on our D, he puts so much heart on the field, that my brother that doesnt know anything about the game keeps asking me about the hairy dude using #43!
Reed is talented, but he doesnt put the emotion like Poz, we do have the best safety duo in the business! But we must get our Cbs to play better, Ike and McFadden were too inconsistent!

Clark is a hitter!
I think Reed shows his emotion but just not in a Samoan way. The Ravens had a Samoan on their roster in the SB35 years (Ed Mulitalo). He was a beast and a real emotional fun guy. They all have a great heritage and breed super athletes for such a small country.

Thanks Rexx
Classy post and good work on the beatdown. I don’t think many of us thought the Ravens were going to be as good as they ended up being this year. To make it to the AFC championship game after playing 18 weeks in a row, with a rookie QB, rookie head coach and a beat up D is tremendous accomplishment. To be one field goal away from beating us late in the fourth quarter was even more impressive.
You guys have an interesting off season coming up. Good luck. We trust that the rivalry will continue in years to come. And if the Browns ever pull their heads out of the dark smelly place they’ve been stuck in since they came back – we might have one of the more interesting divisions in football…..

that's pretty doubtful
even if my Ravens came out of the cellar to make it one FG away from SB43.
