Another Fantastic LeBeau Article
Bumped. Thanks for this article, one of the better ones on LeBeau we've seen. The press may be a bit late to the party though. LeBeau's 50 year tenure as a participant in the National Football League might be coming to an end at the end of this year. I sure hope not, but you never know. Whatever he decides, he has the universal and unconditional support, respect, and admiration for all he's done for the Steelers and the game of football. - Blitz-

The New York Times ran a cool piece on our favorite coordinator today, Dick LeBeau. It's worth a read if you have a few minutes, if only for the quotes from his Lions teammates and the discussion of his Hall of Fame status. Also features stuff from Farrior, Troy, and the D-line on "Coach Dad" and a bit of Tomlin as well. Clearly we're very lucky to have this guy. Enjoy him while he's still here. Sunday could very well be the last we see of Coach Dad Dick LeBeau. Hard to fathom at this point, but a possibility for sure.

whoops
didn’t see that vherub already linked to this in a comment. My bad.
Best line is the last line:
Tomlin said LeBeau had never talked to him about retirement. "When he wants to have that conversation," Tomlin said, "I’m not available."
Two years ago at Carolina, in the fourth quarter with Pittsburgh ahead, one of the Steelers’ defensive backs intercepted the ball and began celebrating before the play was over.
Why did I not need to look this up to know who he’s talking about?
charity standing orders
No, A. Smith, of course.
It was his first career start after Ryan Clark went down with a groin injury. This reporter should check his facts better, though. He claims it occurred during the 4th quarter, when actually, it was at the end of the third quarter.
was being faceitous hehe
of course it was a smith

hehe
Just about every story about Mr. Smith has something to do with a mental breakdown of one sort or another.

If I ever get the chance to meet this guy, I think all I will be able to do is tell him how much I respect him as both a coach and a man. And probably cry halfway through.
just make sure
you don’t accidentally come within 5 feet of him. Harrison managed to draw and quarter the last man to do that all by himself.

That was an amazing read
It sums up just about everything that needs said about the great coach dad.
Thanks for posting this, and thanks for bumping it.
"Damnit mom! You almost ran over Greg Lloyd!"
at an autograph signing back in 95. He walked out in front of our minivan, and my mom almost hit him. He apologized.

awesome read.
I couldn’t help but think how amazing it was that someone in the New York media wrote this article. It’s pretty incredible to think about the quality of some of the coaches that have come through. If the author truly does want to meet someone who doesn’t like LeBeau, all he needs to do is go read some of the stuff written on stillers.com. One of the main guys over there trashes LeBeau every chance he gets.
Magnificent Tribute
Let’s enjoy him while we still have him. And let’s do whatever we can to get him into HOF. He’s great for the game.

LeBeauuuuuuuu!
Awesome article. Perhaps the Rooney’s should pursue cloning technology so we can get the MKII version in a tube somewhere. Our team just will not be the same when he decides to hang it up. Maybe he can hang in there until Potsie is ready to move into coaching, as I think he is the player who most personifies Coach LeBeau, and I think he could do a terrific job, if he chooses that path.
