Ravens vs. Patriots--who to root for?
The 3-0 Ravens visit the 2-1 Patriots this Sunday. Whenever I watch a game, it's hard for me not to favor one team or the other. Sometimes I like certain players or coaches, sometimes I root for the underdog. So my question to you is, if you watch this game, who do you root for? Yeah, I know, the easy answer is neither, so maybe the question should be, who do you root against less? After all, someone has to win.
After some thought, I came up with a few things I like (or at least respect) about the Ravens:
1) They have a tough D, like the Steelers.
2) Their QB looks like he came from a steel town instead of a men's fashion show.
3) Their coach doesn't act like a hoodie-wearing android.
4) They're not cheaters.
And my favorite thing about the Ravens: they are polite enough to lose to us in the playoffs.
After some thought, I cannot think of anything that I like about the Patriots.

Can't believe this is even a question
I hate the Pats as much as the next person and would love to see them get beat, just not by the team we are trailing by 2 games. That is almost as big a game for us as our own. Depending on the results(excluding ties) we will be down either 1,2, or 3 games. I am hoping for 1.
The team that's not in our division.
That’s who you root for.

Bring a towel to the game. Black or gold or yellow. If you don't have one buy one, If you can't buy one, dye one!!!

Here we go Patriots, here we go!
Of course, now that I’m rooting for them, they’ll be sure to lose.

Um the team that is not in our division
These poasts bore me…
Yes I hate the Patriots and they stank.
Yes I hate the Ravens and they stank.
But the Ravens pose a greater threat to my playoff hopes therefore they stank more.
Simple math folks.
Agree, although...
No matter who wins, one of them will lose and I’d call that a glass half-full.

Very inciteful.
We need the Ravens to lose, it’s as simple as that.
13 years and no playoff wins for the Dallas Cowboys... SWEET!
Obviously root for Pats
But, here’s what I think:
1. I think this is the Ravens year to win the division. I think they go 13-3 or 12-4, at worst.
2. The best we can hope for this year is a split head to head. We won’t sweep.
3. I think 2009 will parallel our 2006 SB run…injuries come in bunches, so unfortunately I think we’ll have some more to deal with. We’ll continue to be out of sync but find ways to win some games coming up but I don’t think we hit our stride until the second half of the year. 11-5 maybe, most likely 10-6. Wild card.
4. But, just like in 2006, all that matters is you make the playoffs!!!!! We will relish the underdog role. We will find a way to play the Ravens in the AFCC but they will be favored….yes, the kiss of death!!! They will have all the pressure playing in front of their home crowd…not wanting to lose to the hated Steelers in consecutive AFCC games!!!
5. Yes, we will win…BB will find a way to pull it off. The Ravens will suffer bitter disappointment just like in 2007 (?) when they lost to the Colts when the Colts went on to win SB.
I know i’m getting ahead of myself, but I can see this happening. I’m not giving up at all on the season. Quite the contrary. I just get the sense that the Ravens will continue to blow through opponents and we’ll continue to struggle a little. Give the Ravens their due tey are a very, very strong team. They are not going to lose more than a few games this year.
But, be patient Steeler fans in the end it will all work out.
I don’t know about you but I will enjoy more the feeling of “upsetting” the Ravens as a wildcard team than beating them as favorites as we did this past year.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it….
I hope they both lose
Maybe there is some rule in fine print where they can both lose

Yes there is...
What needs to happen is some sort of celestial meteor shower must collide into the stadium
No
A win from us and a tie for the ravens still leaves us 2 games behind.

After we beat the Ravens twice, we'll be in control of our division.
On the other hand, the way things are going, we could be fighting the Patriots for a wild card spot.
It’s too early to worry about playoff positioning. I was really asking which team you hate more.
I'm not rooting for either
I hope they beat each other so bad they have to move their whole practice squads up. :)

I refuse to acknowledge the event at all.
I’m going out of town and not getting back until l hr before the Steelers/Chargers game. I can’t think of a better weekend for it.
Good thought
It’s not necessarily a boring question in my opinion.
I favor Pats winning since that gives the Steelers the best chance to destroy them in the playoffs.
I’m excited to see this game because I hate both teams, but they’re really both overhyped.
NE can’t run the ball and they liquidated their defense for draft picks. The defense still is producing for the most part though. Overhyping of St. Brady needs no explanation.
I think Baltimore is also over-hyped. Ok they lit up KC and the brownies…so what? SD scored 26 points on them and held up defensively pretty well.
This is the same answer as the San Diego game
We want to root for whoever is playing against the Ravens. Week in-week out.
It’s also the same reason i will be hoping Derek Anderson can play to the level he played in 2 years ago somehow and beat Cincy this week-end.
It’s all about winning the division. Everything else like playoff seeding and getting the bye you worry about that with about 4 weeks left.
Patriots
The only way I would ever cheer for the Rats is if it was the final regular season game and they had to beat whomever for the Steelers to get in. The 4th week of the season there is no way I can cheer for them!
GO PATS! (wow, can’t believe I just typed that)
Im Rooting for INJURIES
On both sides. These are my 2 most hated teams. The Steelers could use a Pats win so I guess thats who I’ll root for even though I agree with the original poster’s analysis about the Rats.
Im rooting for the Steelers
And no, I dont mean I’m rooting for James Harrison to run onto the field from nowhere and sack the hell out of Flacco or Brady (Though part of me is ALWAYS rooting for that, every game I watch.) No I mean, I am rooting for the Pats, since Baltimore is two games in the lead with a conference win too. Plus, I HATE HATE HATE the Ravens. And after that loss in Shincy (see what I did there?) and the fan reaction I’m starting to hate them just as much. I mean, for the first time in how many years your team beats us, AND NOT BY MUCH and OBVIOUSLY not at our best game, and suddenly Shincy fans act like they roflstomped us 42-0. I digress….
Screw the Ravens. Go get em Bellicheat!
this is an easy one for me...
i’m rooting for the patriots… I don’t even care. I hope the patriots blow the ravens out of the water in fact… and then lose every game after that. I can’t stand the thought of the ravens going 4-0. If they do, it’ll take a while for us to catch up.
