Support Your Steelers
I wrote last week that I though the Lions game would be better than first anticipated. Raise your hand if you think Larry foote had any input as to how to play the Steelers defense...without Troy...in the fourth quarter.
I'm seeing a lot of negative comments today after a road win. Relax, it is a long season. In the first five weeks, I have written that the Browns look better than the Bengals, keep an eye on the Bills, Denver will lose this one, and many more comments that seemed self evident from watching the early games. Things changed from week to week. Teams got better, teams got worse. It is the way of the NFL. Consider this, the Steelers have more than just one guy trying to work into the team while still trying to learn all there is to learn. Against the Chargers, two mistakes by newcomers (Kickoff fumbles) almost let the Chargers back into it. Newcomers. Once they get their sea legs, the Steelers will be back to their old selves. This will take some time. As time goes by though, we should see improvement. With improvement will come cofidence. And then winning, winning, and more winning.
Concentrate on the positive and support your Steelers. With a win, look at what they did right and give encouragement that the Steelers will build on the posatives. Started the season without a running game (The Colts couldn't run on the Titans, by the way) and now they have one. The Steelers started without their customary sack total, now it is comming on...
I think the glass is more than half full here guys, a lot more. Lets not let the problems get blown out of proportion. I see the challenges the Steelers have too, but they are all challenges we, me and you, know they can overcome. They say hindsight is 20-20, lets try to have a little foresight. Please.
I'm not a fan of William Gay mocking Larry foote. The man has two superbowl rings with the Steelers. Give him a little more respect please Mr. Gay, he has one more than you.
What a nice touchdown by Wallace. Did you ever think the Steelers would have a receiver that could outrun Ben's arm? I sure didn't. In a system where freshmen don't usally start, Wallace has been a pleasant surprise. Steelers rookie of the year?
I only got to see highlights of the game yesterday (With the exception of five minutes that CBS switched from the Giants game and then to the Ravens game), but I did see Kemo way down field throwing a block. Did he play like a beast again? Anyone?
Speaking of CBS: That network is the all time worst for commercials. They can squeeze in more advertisements than any other network, by far. Thank God they don't air the Super Bowl. I mean, they are even advertising NFL.com's fantasy league in score ticker at the bottom of the screen. I ask you, how long would an NFL game take without commercials?
As stated above, I got the pleasure of watching the Giants-raiders game. Man did Eli look like his brother. I mean GOOD. Granted, it was against the raiders (I purposely did not capitalize their name). As good as the Giants looked, the raiders looked bad. I mean putrid. Al davis is hoping that Cable gets suspended and jail time at this point, as he should. And not for breaking his assistants coaches jaw.
Just a couple of short weeks ago, the Ravens were the toast of the NFL, an by this time next week, they could be 3-3. Wonderful. I love the NFL. The darlings of the media, the Hated Patriots, have the exact same record as the Steelers. I still don't totaly believe in the Broncos and the Bengals, so I think that the AFC only has one legitimate contender, the Colts. I have become facinated watching Peyton Manning play. Why is it that when the media gets on its knees for Peyton, I don't mind like I do when they do it for Brady? Oh yeah, it's because the Hated Patriots are CHEATERS! Notice that the Hated Patriots have been doing steadily worse since they were caught and forced to quit cheating.
Austin Collie has set a new standard for doing what it takes to be NFL prepaired in a players first year in the league. I love the fact that his wife quizes him on formations before bed. One of the Colts receivers said she know the plays better than he does. That is my kind of woman. Hmmm...what happens when he gets them right?..Wrong?
Lets say you are the raiders or Browns organization: what do you do with this years draft? Do you draft another quarterback? Do you just chalk all that money you payed Russell and Quin and Anderson in guaranteed money to a loss and go after another quaterback? The NFL really has to have a rookie salary cap and stop guarenteeing unproven players soooo much money. Russel has a 30-something completion percentage, no peripheral vision, no clock in his head and is the single worst quarterback in the league. He doesn't care, he was guarenteed enough money to retire and play Madden poorly for the rest of his life.
I've said it before, I really don't think the sportscasters in the studios know very much. They all seem to be reactionary. Did Tom Jackson really say it was "Nice to see the Cowboys defense again"? After barely beating a basement dwelling Chiefs team. Really Tom? Are you serious?
Am I the only one who felt somewhat disgusted that the Bengals used the death of one of their assistant coaches wives as motivation to win a football game? I don't get it. I just don't. A little help here please. Priorities are not what they should be. To properly honor your wife in death, take a litte time off of work and mourn her properly. If a close family member of mine died, even a Steelers Super Bowl win would not, could not, make me smile for a long time. I lost any remaining respect for the Bengals Sunday. At every turn that organization shows its lack of any class whatsoever.
I love my Steelers!

Colts couldn't run on the Lions
They’re averaging 79 yards a game good for 4th worst in the League

W. Gay
wasn’t the only Steeler to mock the “Foote Stomp”. I think one was Harisson(?) and one more on D. I watched the game at my local Steeler bar, owned and operated by a friend of mine, BTW…

The raiders will draft the guy who runs the fastest 40
The browns will draft. I can’t think of a position they would draft maybe kicker

The two children of these spawned and fused in a tantric love session to create Troy Polamalu. The mother however died as he tore through the birth canal with a spin move."

about Zimmer
I think it has to be that TV show. His wife was shown on this summer’s show making cookies for Defensive players. She loved them as her own children. Therefore, Zimmer decided to go I guess.
To honor his wife, Zimmer decided to do one very hard thing to do, which is to beat Ratbirds on their turf.
P.S. But I agree with you and thought it was incorrect thing to do.

Really now ...
his wife is an active participant with the team, she cared for the players, and it is wrong for her husband to be with them in everyone’s hour of need? It is about priorities … and his place was with those boys. Some folks need to think that one over again before dissing the coach, team and players.

On Zimmer
I am with 10 above. Wyo, I don’t know if you ever lost a parent, spouse or sibling but there is no pain like that. Each must search his own feelings and come to terms with the finality of death. If Zimmer wants to coach or Favre wants to play that is their business. Teams and players will use whatever they can to build cohesion and motivate.
That may have been the best way for Zimmer to deal with the pain and grief of losing someone. You my friend will deal with it the way you wish. If that is by being by yourself in a dark room, reflecting then so be it but do not pass judgment on others for coping with one of life’s worst experiences.
