Is target off Steelers back?
Remember way back when the hot topics here were Redzone Redman and Ra'shon Harris? (Wait, I'm being told we are still arguing those topics.) Back then the professional yakkers were opining that the main reason the Steelers couldn't repeat was because of the bullseye on their uniform, Steelers would be everybody's homecoming game.
Well, after losing a couple three point games, those same professional yakkers currently rank the Steelers anywhere from 12th to 17th. Seems like we've fallen under the radar.
And, beginning this week, a strange anomaly in the schedule shows up. The Ravens have Minn. We get Minn the following week. Then Ravens get BYE. We follow with our BYE. Then Ravens get Denver. We get Denver following week. Ravens get Cincy. We get Cincy following week. We get to draft behind Baltimore four weeks in a row.
Don't think any of these teams are going to look past the Ravens to the BIG GAME against Steelers.
We take care of business this week against Browns, still under the radar. Ravens soften up our next three opponents, or at least keep them honest, and at least for a few weeks, Steelers are just another game on the schedule.
That's a good thing.

excellent insite
I never looked at the schedule like that, but it is interesting how we are “drafting” balt. if anything it helps our preperation to see how the opposing offenses scheme to adjust to Balt’s D. I will say this, don’t look to far ahead. Blitz brought up a great point that was quoted from Tunch somewhere along the NFL is broken down into 4 four game segments. Balt was high on the list after the first 4. I can see them taking a tumble in their second 4. I predict that they completly fall off and finish with less than 8 wins. Not necessarily inflicting the punishment I would hope for in those games a week prior to ours. To me they peaked in week 3 and their defense looks as vulnerable as I can remember, just a few steps behind.

Only in the media
The Steelers are still marked on people’s schedule as the current champs. Not under the radar but maybe a little hidden in ground clutter. The Ravens may still be a good team but they aren’t as much a tenerizing agent as they have been. The bottom line is the Steelers have to show up and play the whole game. They need to finish better. No stealth mode needed.

I don't think it was ever on our backs
Since Tom Brady has come back, the focus has been on the Patriots. Every writer and analyst in the country basically put them in the Super Bowl before a game was even played. Yeah, we’re the defending champs and all, but teams like the Pats and the Ravens were thought to be better than us.
I personally think we’re flying under the radar right now because of our lackluster play in the fourth quarter. Hopefully we catch on fire later on like we did last year.

I'd agree...
If it were writer’s we were playing out there. But they’re football players, and the bottom line is when the season ended last year and the confetti was flying, it was our guys that were holding up the trophy that everyone in the league wants to have. And that is something that every player we play remembers, and that’s why our names were circled on their calendars when the schedule came out. I don’t think that the “Power Rankings” or Peter King’s articles influence ballers on the field very much (though for some they might, a little bit).

Yeah, I agree with you mostly
I mean… Don’t kid yourself… the talking heads might not be looking at the Steelers, but the NFL teams still are. (Agree with NYSteelersFan4 completely on that one)
It’s not so much the Colts or Patriots… but the Bengals, and Broncos are going to use us as a measuring stick to see how real their chances are. You beat the champs, and you feel good about yourself, plain and simple.
But I do like following Baltimore. They may not win more than 8 games this year (who knows) but they are still bruisers and head hunters. It doesn’t matter if they are taking 15 yard penalties on key plays and losing — in fact that is better for us.
I like where the bye week comes. It might be better if it was before MINN, but I still am not buying them as the team to beat in the NFC. Maybe they are as good as they appear… but my spidey-sense is tingling… they just don’t convince me.
And the Steelers have a tendency to play to the level of competiton — that sucks when we don’t blow out Cincy and Detroit — but we do have a reputation for showing up big in games where the other team is being held out as better than us…
I could see us going on a roll, and suddenly be the talk of the NFL again (especially with Brady and his team fading this year). Though if the Mannings can manage one or two more weeks of undefeated seasons, you know everyone will be looking at a Manning-Bowl Super Bowl.

I thought it was the same sensation Peter King gets when Tom Brady does anything
"Polamalu’s lineage can be traced through several roots. Chuck Norris mated with an Amazon Queen, and on the other side, Tony Hawk mated with Mother Nature. The two children of these spawned and fused in a tantric love session to create Troy Polamalu. The mother however died as he tore through the birth canal with a spin move."
