Public Appreciation for Johnny_S
Those who have seen my bits and pieces around here know that the two most important games of any season, in my opinion, are Cleveland Browns #1 and Cleveland Browns #2. I lived though the 60s and remember about 100 games with those folks. I am on Cloud 9 right now because we beat the Cleveland Browns and did so for the 12th consecutive time.
Anyhow, I can't help trolling over to their site and when I see something that I don't like, I pounce on it. A few of those guys made a deal over the fourth down measurement, mysterious indeed, without referencing the hold during Cribbs' TD run or the Hines Ward touchdown or the Mendenhall-when-is-the-play-over strip, etc. So I pointed out the overall officiating, not just the one play that went against the Browns. Needless to say, I got ambushed pretty good. Johnny_S came to the rescue and I want to thank him. When it comes to the Browns, I'm like a teenaged Hatfield wandering into the hangout saloon of the McCoys. I usually get the snot beat out of me. One time my man Blitz came in with guns blazing. This time Johnny_S dragged me out of there. Thanks brother. Together we all eat.
PS, when do we play the Browns again?

I know what you mean!
When I lived in Florida I went to a Browns bar twice a year when the Steelers played them to watch. It isn’t easy being the only person in black and gold surrounded by a sea of orange and brown! I was given a hard time but the Steelers more often than not came out on top. I was there during that playoff game in 2002 and had to beat it out of there pretty quick because you can imagine a bunch of Browns fans having just had their hearts ripped out suddenly turning their rage to the black and gold Pittsburgh guy who had by now managed to bring 2 other people but still greatly outnumbered by the 150 or so Browns fans in the tavern! LOL I’ll be looking forward to the rematch in December as I was able to score tickets to attend it.

heh, nice story
Have fun in December. We’ll see if the Browns are still playing hard and for each other by then.

Live in Youngstown
Which is right in between. Worked in Cleveland for 23 years. Born in Pittsburgh. I covered the entire 120 mile strip for 55 years, so I know the rivalry better tha most. The Browns must go down and go down hard. And yes, I will be in Cleveland in December. I go to both games. One of these years I will not get out of there, but if we win, my life will be a small price to pay.

Grew up in Youngstown myself
My dad grew up in Sharon, PA and my mom and her family grew up in Warren, OH, so one side of my family is full of hardcore Steelers fans and the other side are all hardcore Browns fans.
Not only do I have to deal with that but half of my friends from high school are Browns fans and the other half are Steelers fans, so the Steelers vs Browns games are probably the biggest of the year for myself as well.
I went to college near Cincinnati at Miami Ohio so I got to experience Bengals fans down there. While I was down there beating the Bengals always gave me pleasure, but I still got the most excited/nervous about the Browns games.
I’m in between Undergrad and Grad school right now so Im back in Youngstown for a little and listening to the radio and hearing Browns radio talk and the local news reporting on both teams, it reaffirms my feelings that Steelers vs Browns is still very important…. even if the Steelers keep winning.

I was born in Warren. I’ve had these convos with MR before, but, ya know, its still relevant.
Moved out of the state when the Grinnell plant shut down and my dad got transferred to RI. So now I’m coastal. Woo.
Goddamn I miss me some Hot Dog Shoppe, though. Anyone willing to ship me a quart of sauce (and 5 family fries with cheese and sauce (jk))?

It’s a good thing you didn’t cough up that you bought it from the Hot Dog Shoppe or they might be out of business.

Oh wow
No thanks needed. Sometimes those Browns bloggers can be pretty tough-nosed, not that that’s a bad thing, presenting and sticking with your argument is good. However, they never want to bend their opinion when it is being opposed by a Steelers fan. I am all for reasonable arguments and seeing every point of view (just early this week NYSteelersFan and others talked me into Logan having a spot).
Anyway, being teamed up on sucks. So I figured I’d help you out, although I didn’t do a great job. On many occasions I’ve had the Ravens fans jump on me at the Beatdown.
Glad I could help though.

Bagel Pizzas for everyone!
Hey, what can I say, Johnny S is my favorite Steelers/ Orioles fan. Okay, so he’s the only Steelers and Orioles fan I know, but it’s still true.

MR
I read that thread man. I’m sorry I didn’t jump in, but those assholes are just trolls on their own board. Yeah, kwoog, I’m talking to you.
You took a lot of hate for just stating some pretty apparent facts and not saying anything remotely controversial or inflammatory. But its hard to feel bad about any of that since we came out with a win, and they did not.
