The Next Punter the Steelers Will Face is Mitch Berger
Yeppir, the Denver Broncos have cut their punter, Brett Kern, and signed Mitch Booming Berger to the roster. The Broncos are the Steelers next opponent. Josh McDaniel has transformed the likes of him Kyle Orton and Ryan McBean, but my guess is he'll walk on water before he turns Berger into Ray Guy. It will be fun having him punt to us Monday Night, November 9. Imagine having Brett Kern as your punter?

The thin mountain air
may add 10% or so to his punts, so that’s what, about 2 extra yds?

When you factor in the 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage....
it comes out to about 3.5 yards.

The question here is...
How freaking bad is Bret Kern? To get beat out by Mitch Berger, jeez. I feel bad for the guy.
Congrats to Berger though, for finding work at least. He won a ring with us, so there is a soft spot in my heart for him. Now, if he can hit his own guys with a few short punts and we reap the benefits, I might actually like liking him the little bit I do.

I just saw a post over there about Berger's addition
They seem excited about it. I guess they did not watch many Steelers games last year.

They might have
prior to yesterday’s game. But I went over and read some of their in game commentary yesterday and most were longing for the return of Kern. Too funny.

Heads Up!
Sure hope some of the Steeler vets on the punt coverage unit are warning the rookies to look out for one of Mitch’s shanked 25 yard punts. We don’t want to get hit and give up the ball.
On a side note, thanks for the memories Mitch! You did an admirable job kicking at 40 years of age with 2 pulled hammy’s. We couldn’t have won a Lombardi with Paul Ernster. Good luck on Monday. Hope you get lots of work.

They must want an experienced holder
Wasn’t that why we never went away from Mitch?

Same old Berger
Berger had eight punts against the Ravens. He averaged a whopping 38.4 yards a kick, dropping one inside the 20. Still very glad they signed him.
Steelers stop the run, Orton is forced to carry the offense and Pittsburgh wins the battle of field position because Berger is punting.
